Just tranfered the engine from my old car to this one, should get it to run today. Need to add oil, the battery and an ignition wire to No. 4 cylinder.

Nope they don't adjust, they're supposed to be screwed in all the way -those look like 200 air correction tubes....the short ones are probably 180

What advantage would 200 have over 180"s Is this something I should look into? I hate carbs.

I've been lurking on and off 914club most of the summer.
I've been playing and coaching ice hockey for 20 years.
My 914's been sitting all that time....I stopped coaching this summer
and got the engine back in and running in August., still lots to do before
it's road ready.

I was about to say that the prettiest engine compartments hold carbed engines. Then I saw the 914RS job. I guess there's an exception to every rule....

Ask an Irishman if he wants another pint.
Ravenna green car is new to me. About a month and half at this point, so I don't have a ton of pictures.
I got the car just before the 2004 East Coast Ramble and broke a CV joint while getting to the event. As a result, there were several pictures of my car taken there.

Dan.... On a Six it saves you from having to pull the motor to access the Fan / belt...
I recently had to replace the Alternator and was able to do it without droping the motor. Got access to the belt and shims from the Firewall hole. and pulled the carbs to get at the fan Housing. There is always a big debate if this should be done or not but I say fo a six its the way to go

Going for record quotes here:
Hmm, I have built 5-6 914-6 conversions, replaced 4 914-6 alternators, never needed the "hole".
What I usually do is make a single cut along the fiberglass shroud. I found a special "H" shaped gasket that will allow you to remove this part of the shroud anytime you like. No more dropping engines, cutting up the car or removing the shroud. Easy stuff. I can see about posting some pics if people would like to see? Just preferance I guess, but I would rather put a cut in the fiberglass shroud than multiple cuts in the steel of the car.
Nice idea though. Oh, I mark my flywheels for timing, adjusting valves etc.....
BTW - very nice engine bay! Mine sucks.

Joe A,
Where's your battery, man ?
Michel Richard
p.s. I had the firewall hole in the pale-ivory car, I'm trying to do without it in the Ravenna-green one. I did have to cut a very small access hole to be able to adjust the MFI idle screw, but it's very small. I'd love to learn how to swap fanbelts without the hole. Factory sixes did not have one.

If Euro 928 motors were a dime a dozen and dirt cheap every one would have one. Gotta be lookin for one, Gotta know what you are lookin for. Gotta be ready to jump on it with cash quickly.
AND being a master fabricator helps.
My early U.S. motor only put down 220HP at the crank. Hardly worth the effort.

Very True Joe, I was lucky and found a rare motor in a yard that specialized in Volvo's. They wanted a ton of money for the thing but cash speaks a language of it's own.
I'm looking into later motors but they don't have the spyder. But I think the intake off an early motor will swap with little HP loss.

Well, I do need a new set of rear tires!...275/35/18" I go through through them 2 to 1 compaired to the fronts. My '92 is old technology but still a 6 second 0-60 car. How about a rolling start...say we start at 70?- I'll be in third gear...and just getting into my powerband.

We could do that, but I should be fair and post a copy of my dyno before the chip...
Also, I run 285/40-17 Kuhmos for the rear. The Goodyear junk wears out too quick.
