Posted by: seanery Oct 15 2004, 09:11 PM

I have some ideas, but I want to hear what others have to say...

....here's your opportunity

Posted by: Qarl Oct 15 2004, 09:12 PM

Send them all COD to Alfred!

Posted by: tod914 Oct 15 2004, 09:14 PM

Maybe do a raffle with em at your WCC event. Then give the remaining to Alfred.

Take a black marker

Change the 4 to a 1

Put them on EBay for $25 opening bid as 911 hats

Send them out to the guys who will wear them in the garage while they are working on thier cars, like me! I always wear a hat when I work on my car and they are all looking pretty nasty. Thats my vote. I could use one.

Or donate them to a homeless shelter idea.gif

Another in agreement

i could use a garage/work hat as well. would these be sent as a 'bonus' to those who already paid then? creating a veritable hat bonanza when the correct and defective hats arrive! mueba.gif

i'm always in for a buy one get one free arrangement! w00t.gif

Posted by: iamchappy Oct 16 2004, 07:01 AM

If you need to get rid of them i'll buy one, I dont care if it's on crooked.

Posted by: Part Pricer Oct 16 2004, 07:23 AM

My suggestion. There are three things that you can do with the hats. You can sell them, or you can sell them, or you can do both. The end result is that I would like to see you keep the proceeds for all your efforts.

Scenario One:
Sell the slightly-imperfect hats to club members for a total price of $8.39 (priority mail shipping included). After the costs of $3.85 for priority mail and $0.54 for PayPal, you net $4.00 per hat.

Scenario Two:
Sell them on ebay for $4.99 a hat plus $4.99 shipping and handling for a total of $9.98. Use fixed-price buy-it-now, immediate payment to avoid unnecessary communication and haggling with buyers. After costs of $3.85 for priority mail, $0.59 for PayPal and $0.66 for ebay, you net $4.88 per hat.

Scenario Three:
Do both.

Then, use the money and buy yourself some beer. You deserve it. beer.gif

Sell them on ebay!!!!

Posted by: seanery Oct 16 2004, 08:51 AM

Paul's the closest to what I was thinking except that the proceeds would go to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation...our FFC charity.

Posted by: SLITS Oct 16 2004, 09:26 AM

Ok Sean, put me down for 2 "work hats" - My Lemans work hat is on it's last legs. However you sell them and what you do with the money is of no concern to me.

Posted by: scottb Oct 16 2004, 09:33 AM

oh now i look like a greedy person! unsure.gif

i dig the charity idea. put 'em on ebay or sell 'em here and i will score a couple for muckin' about.....

let me know the amount per hat.....

Posted by: rhodyguy Oct 16 2004, 09:34 AM

how the hell did you add that scroll?

kevin

Posted by: Hi_Fi_Guy Oct 16 2004, 10:01 AM

Fund Raiser, Charity, Raffle.

At Phoenix Flight there is a FUN RALLY where the disabled-kids get to be the co-pilot/navigator. If every kid got a hat, that would be cool.

Doesn't have to be Phoenix Flight, but the idea is right.

Posted by: itsa914 Oct 16 2004, 10:06 AM

I would buy 2 "worK" hats also. smile.gif

Posted by: scottb Oct 16 2004, 12:04 PM

ok, here's an idea.... can a few cars show up at a childrens hospital near the ffc? let the kids see/sit/ride in the cars and give out hats to the patients and staff. how cool would that be??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plan A underway...more info soon smile.gif

Posted by: Part Pricer Oct 16 2004, 04:25 PM

Sean,

I'll give you ten bucks for a defective hat. If the proceeds are going to charity, you can keep the hat.

Where do I send the money?

Posted by: RAR Oct 17 2004, 11:34 AM

What's wrong with them? Could three of them be fashioned into swim wear?

huh.gif Duh! I missed what happened to the hats...
What's the current status? Can you keep the crooked ones for free?

Posted by: seanery Oct 18 2004, 07:55 AM

the mfr want 3 or 4 back to send to the factory.
the others are in limbo....well 25 are on their way to make some kids happy (we hope).

Posted by: Jenny Oct 18 2004, 10:51 AM

are some people still getting the off centered ones for work hats? If so, I'd like to put in a request for one or two. (originally ordered two)

id like one after all the kids get theirs wink.gif

Posted by: skline Oct 18 2004, 10:59 AM

So I guess I dont get a new garage hat huh? sad.gif Half the kids will wear them once and never touch them again saying, what the hell is a 914? Should have sold them and just donated the money to them. I would have bought one. I paid for a couple of the good ones and it would have been nice to have one for the garage too.

Posted by: seanery Oct 18 2004, 11:52 AM

here's the deal.
I bought about 50 extra hats. Those are the ones that I've given away.
I'm not doing anything with the others until I've heard back from the mfr.
I don't want ANY surprises from them regarding replacement.

I understand, and I dont blame you, what if you sent them all out to people and then they hit you up to return them. That would suck. I appologize also.

Posted by: Lawrence Oct 18 2004, 12:36 PM

How about just send them back after you get the right ones? After all, the buy was only for one set of hats.

If they give them to you... different story.

I agree. They probably ought to go back. Maybe they can be realigned? It looks like they pull to the right a little.

Wrong forum buddy!

But, hmmmm idea.gif I could design one if there is enough interest biggrin.gif

Posted by: seanery Oct 18 2004, 02:25 PM

they wanted 3 of them back, the rest they don't want back. But, I really don't want to do anything to them until they receive the returned hats on Wednesday.
