914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Need Help with trans leak

Posted by: J-ROD Jun 8 2012, 04:46 PM

Ok so I got the parts from dr evil (btw got them to me super fast) to fix the leak on my tail shift trans. Finally have some free time to do it and was wondering if there is a "how to" post on how to replace the shifter o ring. I havent had luck finding one. I found a good one with pictures but it was for a side shift. Is there is a good one for the tail shift? If so can someone please put up a link for me... Thanks

I was going to make one for you, but I forgot. sad.gif

I cant get one for you until next week as I am working 12hr+ shifts every night this weekend (I am at the hospital now dry.gif )

I can do one in prose, though.

1) Remove the bottom rear cover.
2) See the little dong thing on the shift rod in the space you just exposed.
3) Move the shifter in a position to allow you to drive the roll pin out that holds the dong.
4) Slide the shift rod out.
5) Pull the seal and replace.

6) Assembly is the reverse.

It is not too hard wink.gif
