914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Seat Rack restoration

Posted by: Rbcm2005 Jun 8 2012, 09:51 PM

So we started the tear down of the seat rack tonight. The black painted bits are off to be powder coated next week.

However, we want to freshen up the seat rails, actuating lever, spring and whatever other metal unpainted parts there are. Is plating the way to go? If so - what type of plating?

Any other ideas?

Thanks

The slide part of the rails need to have almost nothing. I did a bang up job of 3 coats of gloss paint and then the seats wouldn't slide on the rails...sand me down some sliders!

I had the bottom half powercoated and I painted the top half. I had the adjuster arm for the tilt electroplated and the slider anjuster powdercoated as well.

My problem is I can't seem to figure out how to reassemble the spring mechanism for the tilt
