Well, there were 37 cars built after mine so maybe it was built after Christmas! Love to see what the VIN is.

Hi Jeff,
don't worry biggrin.gif
it says "EZ: 01/76" - this only means that this car was first permitted to drive (maybe Andy could translate it better rolleyes.gif ) from this date on
it has nothing to do with the VIN or production date

the first 914 I was really interested to buy was built in Apr.73, but first registered in Feb.74 (seems that this car was in a showroom and nobody wanted to buy it for a long time)

in europe there were no '76 models offered - only in USA

So long,
Gustl

Side marker lights are interesting as they were for North American cars only. Perhaps this is a car built for the US, then was not shipped. Or maybe someone in Europe placed an order after the production run had ended and this car was pulled from shipping. Or who knows......

I doubt it was manufactured in 1976 based on all the literature available.

no, no ... italian cars have these sidespots, too, but they use 'em as turn signals

I'm sure that this car is a re-import - like my '74 1.8
I think in europe are more re-imported 914 than original european cars laugh.gif

Gustl got it right,

EZ stands for "Erstzulassung" which is the date of first registration and has nothing to do with the manufacturing date ...

Das Vaterland would be the right spelling ...
