914World.com _ 914World Garage _ L-jet pictures

Posted by: echocanyons Jul 29 2012, 06:27 PM

I am looking for a few pictures of a L-jet setup.

I would prefer 75 or later and detailed showing the mounting point of the AAR and the decel valve mounting.

I'm in the process of putting my engine back together and I did take several pictures but apparently not detailed enough in the right areas.

thanks

Couple of them...

AAR:

The three prong grounding piece should be under the plenum in order for all the cables to hook up correctly.

The decel valve:

Nope. Notice the double relay on the battery tray. tongue.gif

The big UFO, circular one may have been mounted on the air injection valve bracket which was attached to the 3-4 cylinder intake runners.

......Ya, 1.8 all the way(Ljet)

Yup, it's either a 2.0 manifold or a 912E manifold. But the AAR shown is the same type that was used on the L-jet 1.8s. The Decel Valve shown is the type used on the D-jet cars (1.7, 2.0) and also on the very early L-jet cars.

The later pics do show a 1.8 manifold.

Having zinc plated a bunch of the hard parts I had a tough time figuring out which arts went were but they are coming together.

I completely forgot that the decel valve was mounted to the engine, I looked in the bay and sure enough its still stuck to the wall.

Here are a few shots for reference, the first shot shows the thermotime switch. The second and third are the auxillary air regulator.

A bit more progress.

The engine is fully assembled less the airbox and AFM. Hopefully when all plugged in the wiring will look a little less messy.

I'm really looking forward to driving again.

I have a few different pairs of intake manifolds laying around. The 2.0L are easy to identify, not sure about 1.7L & 1.8L.

Anyone have the part #s handy?confused24.gif

@echocanyons...where did you get that hard line from the oil filler to the intake boot?

Nice motor!!

Posted by: Dave_Darling Oct 14 2012, 03:49 PM

The 1.7 and 1.8 intake runner pipes are the same length, but the 1.8 tubes have a larger diameter. The 2.0 pipes have the larger diameter but are shorter because the plenum is wider.

Check the tubes where the intake pipes hook up to the plenum.

For part numbers, you can go to the Porsche website and (under Porsche Classic) find a PDF of the factory parts catalog. That lists part numbers for just about everything.

That is the stock piece cleaned up a bit with a powder coat.

I would love to obtain said stock piece!

agree.gif My '75 had a little plastic elbow, and then the unobtainable braided 22mm hose. I am currently running my original hose, but I would love to find some new. I bought some rubber 3/4" hose, but I can't bring myself to put in on for aesthetic reasons.

Me 3! I've never seen one! I had the prebent rubber braided hose mentioned above. Not sure if it leaked, but I wouldn't trust it and its NLA as far as I know.

Now I have to scavenge the 75 MY Ljet engines! WTF.gif

apparently it's a Cal smog part, # 039131674a.

AA and PP have it listed but it's not cheap.

Call Jim at EASY he may have one available.

Posted by: timothy_nd28 Oct 14 2012, 09:03 PM

group buy would be nice. I can't stomach 147.00 for a small steel pipe.

Thanks Dave.

PET info:

[L] 022 133 202B

2.0L
[R&L] 039 133 201B

1.8L
No listing, but if not above #s, I guess they must be for 1.8L. Good enough.

I am putting in a 3.0 911 sc with the k tronic cis injectors the engine is in.
Does anybody have a wiring diagram? or know where I can get one ???
.We are making progress but we want to keep the fuel injection rather than go to carbs and the amount of wiring on an 81 911 sc is staggering-Phil

The Bentley manual has diagrams for some years of 911Scs I think. I removed my CIS system for refurbishment only to find that most of the connectors are the same shape and some of the adjacent ones the same color. I had some photos, but also quite a little bit of luck.

Posted by: Dave_Darling Oct 17 2012, 04:38 PM

Pelican also has SC wiring diagrams.

The wire colors on my wife's 82 SC matched neither Pelican nor the Bentley manual. So be cautious.
