Hello All, I'm a new member, and I've waited to post until my recently purchased 914 arrived via a big-assed enclosed truck.
I purchased a 1973 914 2.0L from California that I found on "The Samba" and after a week of transport it arrived this morning
Light Ivory - VIN = 4732925935 (which I found on this site, but don't know how to update the status).
I'm not a first time 914 owner, I owned a 73 914, back in the late 80's as a youngster, and made a lot of mistakes, but always wanted another shot at it. I expect to keep this car a long time, and bring it back to a nice original example. It needs mostly cosmetic work like paint, interior refurb, but it is remarkably rust free.
I've lurked long enough, and hope to get to know everyone, and pick your brains on how best to get where I want to be with this car.

Nice Score!
Very nice--my favorite color too! What color is your interior? Is it FI or carbed? I've seen pics of that one on the world before, but can't remember when. Maybe Tom posted them on the White 914 thread (?)
That is a very nice looking car; my favorite color too.
I don't like white cars in general, but it looks great on porsches and 914s in particular.
Great find!

-Yea, funny story, about an hour after the car arrived, the guys came to "mudjack" the driveway where it enter's the garage. I had to pull it in and close the doors, and wait till afer work today!

- No, I should be applauded, cause the last two I tried to buy, were shipped off to Europe, we need to keep em in the states if they were delivered here!

- As far as I've been able to determine, it was a Palm Springs car, I bought it from a Samba member near LA. Its unrestored, original paint/interior/engine..everytihng except exhaust it appears. Still trying to dig up more history...

-Yea, I've had almost exclusily white cars, It really checked all the boxes for me, White, 73/74 2.0L, and as Original as possible. Black Interior. Yes, it has the original FI, seems to start and run really well, but I only put about 50 yards on the car so far
Here's a link from the sellers Flicker account that shows lots more details:

Get looking pictures. Very little rust. I noticed the speaker boxes are missing in the pictures. Did you get them in the deal? Looks like the original radio too. What brand is it?
Welcome and nice car! I have a 73 2.0 and love it. I only take mine out when it is a nice day, shine it up and the wife and I will then go all the way to Dairy Queen! Just kidding, I go on tours and enjoy them a lot. Good luck with the things you are going to do and post pics so we can see what you've done!

Man, that thing looks nice!
It really great! I have always thought the monza exhaust looked good on 914's.
Another 73 2.0. You are going to LOVE it! That looks niiiice.
Get comfortable with it, then bring that bad boy out to the MUSR in October. Nothing like a road trip with your new obsession. Just be sure you've renewed your AAA membership.
If you want to head to MUSR I'll drive down and caravan with you too.
Another very nice OHIO 914. The 4th a bunch op us got togeather in Portage In.
To bad you wern't there ! Do you have the room to work on it at Home ?
Rust in rear trunk needs attention 1 st., check battery tray, get it all before it gets to
bad,Have you checked cockpit floors under carpet. After you get all the rust issues
taken care of. Drop the engine, AND DETAIL IT COMPLEATLY, along with the engine
compartment. Then you will have a real show stoper! Dave
very clean
so easy to go wild and custom w 914s
so much more difficult to keep them stock
if you've got original paint and patina, that's worth keeping
if it is already a re-spray w custom parts, like mine, go crazy and have fun!
GREAT looking car! Congrats and
