914World.com _ 914World Garage _ quick wheel question

Posted by: trekkor Oct 23 2004, 01:46 PM

what is the *correct* backspacing for the four lug that will allow the use of a 205/50/15 without rolling the rear fender lips?

or what are the ones that will work?

The chart didn't help. Thanks, anyway.
I think it's for *real* Porsches, with five bolts. lol2.gif

Correct backspace is about 120mm +- 5mm (4 bolt or 5 bolt). But a little more backspace is helpful when trying to fit 7" wheels.

So, just a hair over 4.5 inches?

I have access to some aluminum rims that are 4-4.125 inches . They'll rub, huh?

Actually closer to 4.75"

4.125" is VW bug territory. The infamous Riviera's mostly have a 4" backspace. You won't fit a 205 tire on those without some fender pulling (and then some).

Spacers are the equivalent of even less backspace, so it will make the fit even worse.
