914World.com _ 914World Garage _ struts...color

Posted by: wachospeedo Sep 1 2012, 08:38 PM

I have sent the crossmember, A-arms and the struts to be sandblasted and powdercoated. Crossmember and A-arms go black, but the Early 914-6 struts I am told are grey. So a basic grey? Not a big deal...not like getting Koni orange right ...eh? I'm not being anal here, just wondered if you guys care as much as the early 911 folks bs.gif

You should ask this question in the originality forum.

Unless you are a concourse weenie, who cares what shade of grey you choose.

The book says there are 50 shades of grey poke.gif

Probably grey. I've seen stock 6 struts in black and replacements in grey.

BE CAREFUL with powder on struts. Most powdercoaters will lay it on thick. You will run into problems with the brake lines going through the fittings and the line clips going on the mounts.

I prefer paint on all of that stuff now...

The ones on Cairo's car are Bilstein green as are both of the lonhood 911's I have in right now, one of which has RSR struts on it. Have they been swapped out or was this also an option ?

914-6's came with Boge front struts and were gray. . the color is close the Krylon Dove Gray, which is a light shade. the same struts on my 71 911T were black IIRC.

I had a set of original grey shocks paint matched from Tower Paint. Blue/Grey color. It's "Color Truck 15812" if you want to order it from them. 1-800-779-6520 Abit glossier than stock, but the color match is correct.
