Posted by: jim_hoyland Oct 30 2004, 06:17 PM

youd wanna go up the pasadena side then....hmmm
need lots more input

Posted by: jim_hoyland Oct 30 2004, 06:25 PM

Any date is fine with me; after owning this car since 1983, it would be nice to meet-up with another 914 owner.

Posted by: mrmeade Oct 30 2004, 06:46 PM

I'am in! Isn't there a concern that there may be snow on the roads even now? Or, is this road kept relatively clear? I would think sooner than later before the ski birds hit the slopes over thanksgiving weekend. What about next Sunday? Just a bunch of 914's meeting at the entrance to the crest in La Canada and running till it ends just before the Cajon Pass? That is my two cents.

Posted by: Aaron Cox Oct 30 2004, 07:06 PM

that could work. still need more input. SAT is way better than SUN for me

No snow, but rock slides might prevent a complete trip through there. sad.gif

I have no preference on which side we start on. Pasadena is closer to me, so I could be there earlier. If we start in El Cajon and end in Pasadena, I'll be just a few minutes from home, so that also works for me.

I'll check with the wife to make sure she doesn't have anything planned for that day.

I think sooner would be better than later. Another good storm could dump a bunch of white stuff on our plans. sad.gif

im thinking the regualr ortega highway thing. angeles highway to late for this year (snow, ice) etc.

i dunno joe, im only grasshoppa.
what do you guys think

Posted by: bob91403 Nov 3 2004, 05:02 AM

Don't do it too early in the day. This time of year, anything before noon you'll run into black ice. Definitely start from Pasadena. If I remember correctly that will keep you on the cliff side most of the time. If you drive the mountainside lane you have to watch out for sand. Ask me how I know.

Posted by: ematulac Nov 3 2004, 09:56 AM

Ortega Highway sounds cool. Looks that rock slide on Angeles Crest is still there, anyway.

There are forecasts for rain this weekend for my zip code. sad.gif

Posted by: Aaron Cox Nov 3 2004, 06:39 PM

when?

Posted by: mrmeade Nov 3 2004, 06:54 PM

Where will it start. Would we go east to west or west to east?

I am definitely in for a run this weekend. Sat is good for me too.

Posted by: MattR Nov 3 2004, 07:33 PM

Hey, we should organize it so we can swing by my house for an hour and do body work on my shell! smile.gif

Damn, 10 club members that know what they're doing, I could have a nice body in a few hours. It would be like Overhaulin' or American Hot Rod where they get flawless bodies done in like 12 hours.

Posted by: Aaron Cox Nov 3 2004, 08:03 PM

we go corona to lake elsinore to dana point.

This sat? short notice. im 99 % down! laugh.gif

Posted by: Carlitos Way Nov 3 2004, 08:15 PM

Posted by: JohnnyX Nov 3 2004, 08:34 PM

Have you checked the weather report lately. Hate to say it, but the forcast is for rain Sat & Sun. I love driving in the rain, it takes more skill and concentration. The problem I have with it is the idiots that drive in the rain with a cell phone in one hand and a palm pilot in the other. Basically your drive with your head up your ass Southern Calif driver. ar15.gif In a 914 they don't see you when it's dry, when it's wet you're invisible to them in their SUV's.

Here in San Diego, daily accidents go from about 20-30 to over 200 when in rains, a good day to stay home away from the idiots.

Later Don

Posted by: Aaron Cox Nov 3 2004, 08:46 PM

ok....good point don.

letz plan on sat the 13th. ill start a thread. same route as the other fun run(s) i did.

Posted by: jim_hoyland Nov 3 2004, 09:00 PM

I'm in for the 13th; need directions to the start.

Posted by: Robert21 Nov 3 2004, 09:12 PM

sat the 13 is good for me , hope it doesnt rain

Posted by: Brando Nov 3 2004, 09:15 PM

Saturday the 13th is good for me as well. I just hope I get those new shocks and headlights in beforehand! biggrin.gif

As for starting location... Don't really care as long as travelling time TO the starting location is under an hour.

And can we get a detailed top-down map instead of that angular view? can't make any details on the angular view.

Posted by: mrmeade Nov 3 2004, 09:23 PM

The weather report is convincing. Sat the 13th looks better and better. Start time and location please.

Posted by: Duffster Nov 3 2004, 09:40 PM
