914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Rust in the seams

I'm not sure how to address this rust in the seam.
Should I use something like Metal Ready?
If I do use Metal Ready would it need to be rinsed or Neutralized?

Mechanically clean first. Poke with small screwdriver

Look under the hood in this area. Under the hood seals and to the right and back from the master cylinder

I bet it's a lot worse than you think

If we talk about ALL the seams... The best way would be to acid dip the car and then primer dip the car... Not the easiest or cheapest thing to do... sad.gif

Eeek. Sure signs of the "tip of the iceburg".

Did you spray the primer or did the car come to you like this?

Seems both front quarters were replaced in the past, my guess is the new welds were not sealed well and no rubber seal. In fact it is all solid and limited to this area.

Yes, for final paint I am sure I will be stripping most everything but no dip.
more like spot removal. This is the last area I need to address.

I'm Happy to say it is only surface ice.
Sprayed a lot of primer but left this open for cleaning. It is mostly surface rust but would like it all out with out retaking off the quarters.
I am just concerned about using an acid to remove rust in tight spots, thinking rinse will make it flash rust and not rincing acid seems like a bad
idea too. Maybe try to blow DI water out with an air gun? confused24.gif
