I was pulling a caught old wire out of the engine compartment and noticed the motor moved a little.
I grabbed the accelerator linkage bracket and pushed/pulled the engine side to side and noticed the front of the motor moving left and right almost two inches. Probbaly explains the clunk I hear occasionally.
I got under the car...sort of...and managed to get some pics.
Are there bolts that are supposed to be in here?
Where can I source these? Can't find it at Pelican...
Looks like the early model of engine support.
PET catalog says that the bolt part # is: 900 074 138 01 or M10 X 70 mm.

You should be able to find that bolt at an Ace hardware.
I wouldnt do any autocross that way ;-)
Chances are that the only thing keeping the engine from sliding around is the engine tins.

Uh. Wow!
At least we know that there is a safe failure mode!

I'm going with "Really, REALLY Lucky." Slam on the brakes during an "oh, crap" moment and get a big surprise coming through the firewall at 80 mph.
It happened to me once too. Not the same way though. Passenger side engine support bar bolt came loose. Car started running wonky because wires were pulling loose.
so what's holding it in? the two bolts at the back of the tranny?
I better check the bar too....
