I would like to replace the bushings / bearings.

Anyone done this? Doesn't seam like it will be hard... will it?

not too sure if any of the parts can be bought new...I took a 2.0 dizzy apart and broke one of the phenolic type thrust washers

also, are the bushings available? if so, are they sold with a smaller ID so that you can ream them to the correct diameter of the shaft (which can be undersized as well due to wear)........not a bad idea, just a few things to think about

just get a flaps dizzy for the bushings and stuff already together...

The vacuum can alone costs me MORE, as a shop, than the whole POS distributor from a FLAPS! Don't do it! They're put together with the most gyppo of parts, and aren't even curved to spec unless you're VERY lucky. I have the bushings, but they're hardly ever bad. Gey a vacuum can, a breaker plate, a set of trigger points, and clean it up real good. Lube it where it needs it, using the right oils and grease, and let 'er rip! Expensive, but worth it in the end, and you don't necessarily need toe businngs and tools. BTW, the bushings are NOT available from Bosch, Porsche, or VW. Never have been ................ The Cap'n

I just did the one from my 1.7L motor. PITA when the "Jesus clip" goes flying across the garage. You know "Jesus where did that go"? little clip that holds the top part of the shaft the the bottom part.

I robbed the shims from an old .009 dizzy I had in the bottom of a tool box. That took all the up and down slop out. I cleaned up the two sliding contact surfaces (Breaker plate)? idonno. Lubed up the wieght pivots and the center shaft stole the Jesus clip from the .009 and it is as good as new.

For sale by the way.

How do you get that clip out of there anyway. I just added a drop of oil to mine called it a day.
