914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Teardown BBQ (or something like that)
Posted by: McMark Nov 12 2012, 09:27 PM
I preparation for getting my car painted I want to invite my friends over for the teardown. We can probably do this rain or shine, but the best day coming up is looking like November 25th. But since that's the weekend after Thanksgiving, I don't know if that's problematic for people. This coming Sunday is out. Dec 2 is my birthday (although that could be a fun birthday present ).
Nov 25 - Rain or Shine - 8am to 4pm (or whenever)
Burgers will be provided, anything else you want to bring/share is up to you.
Things to do (edited as I think of them):
1. Remove drivetrain.
2. Remove rear window.
3. Remove windshield.
4. Empty front trunk.
5. Pull wiring harness (partially).
6. Remove lights/rockers/valences/bumpers.
7. Weld up side markers.
8. Weld up hood badge holes.

It means burgers hammer-boy...
Mark's shop is in the unfashionable industrial part of Sonoma. Which still means microbrew in the fridge but not all that fancy shizit you were spouting!

Bummer, I always liked hanging out at OC with Mark-n-da-guys getting dirty and making sparks. However, I live a little too far away now. Have fun!

Ok so we're having burgers, if you're planning on coming and haven't said so please let us know so there's a burger for you. Don't want any one going hungry.
Since I forgot the burger meat last trip to McMarks guess I'm making burgers, but I need to know how many.
Weather should be good, I'll be driving my white 74 with my new 2056...thanks to mark (he finished it for me), runs awesome, see you there.

Just looking at your list Mark.
Kinda scary that the front trunk gets it's own line.Any heavy lifting or hazmat suits required?
What about the interior and windor regulators/frames?
Any other updates?
Posted by: McMark Nov 22 2012, 02:25 PM
Front trunk is tank and air box mostly. Headlight buckets and motors. Wiring.
Doors will probably be just pulling the door panels and the quarter windows. Door handles.

From my own experience, smash them with hammers, jam them into heavy solid objects, take the skin off them with power tools, or get them caught in between two pieces of metal that are being pressed together...
