You forgot to add my fat ass to your passenger seat!!!
how about jay, is he going?
I'm down.
I'am in.
Sounds fun. I think I can probably make it too. I should wrap up reassembling my interior this week, so this time it'll be pure "comfort" for me - carpet, door panels, um... Well, I guess that's all I really added.
-Steve
Joe B, I want to go fishing with you. I grew up on Galveston Bay fishing specks and redfish. Redfish is my nick name with all my high school buddies. because my hair is red not because I caught alot of fish...
I'm working on the interior, too.
I'm going to try and make down from Santa Clarita. It's prolly two hours to the start point, yeah? Anybody else up this way want to caravan?
-Mike D.
very cool. look forward to seeing familiar faces and new ones.
come for the people and the cars and the food
And if anyone wants to caravan up from San Diego, how about meeting at the Denny's in Mira Mesa just off I-15 @ 7:45am.
Denny's
9898 Mira Mesa Blvd
San Diego, CA 92131
Denny's to Best Buy parking lot:
http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?go=1&1a=9898%20Mira%20Mesa%20Blvd&1c=san%20diego&1s=ca&1z=&1y=US&do=nw&1ex=1&2ex=1&src=maps&ct=NA&2a=&2c=Corona&2s=CA&2z=92881%2d4625&2y=US&2pn=&2l=ZzzTGeVIRfc%3d&2g=4IK3xfCYj5TrLdtDZm1zQA%3d%3d&2v=ZIP7&2pl=
I-15 north for 76.1 miles. So it should take a little over an hour, leave Denny's @ 7:45am, arrive at 9:00am.
Aaron......might I be invited? No 914 yet. Bring my Vdub? Dad.....
Yeah.....been wantin to do the Ortega run for some time. Specially since I got my ole car back. Not sure what he's workin on, but my bodymans' shop is just up Grand avenue past the turn UP Ortega highway in Elsinore. You can bet there will be no 914s, but you guys need to get him hooked. He can do ANYTHING with steel ( obviously ;-) )....Dad...
Yep, I'll be there.
Joe

-Steve

So, what's Ruby's address?
Thanks

See you guys tomorrow. But I have to work late tonight, so no clean 914 for me... In fact, I don't think I've washed him since the last get together! :/
Vrooom!

n00b! always glad to have more attendees! Aaron, did you call Ruby's and tell them we'll have a mid-sized party and will need tables?
Looks like i'm going to make it. Boss doesn't need a hand tomorrow and my brakes work so yippee! Gonna bring the girlfriend along for the ride, also might have my buddy Tim (used to own a light blue 914 that had some neato updates) show in his red 911SC.
My son and I will join you guys. We may drive up to Dana from San Diego and take Ortega Hywy backwards to Corona. Who knows. See ya all tomorrow.
looking like the biggest turnout yet.
See y'all there!
Mike D.: Sent you a PM.
I didnt go on the run <_< But heard a lot about it. 17 cars is quite a turn out for not that much notice in advance. Had a few of the guys stop by afterwards, it was good to see them and have some garage talk live. I really need to get my car going so I can go on some of these runs too. Here are the pictures they took on the run and a couple I took while they were here.

I had a great time. The new six performed very well, longest trip sense it has been together. It had a small intake manifold leak that turned into a big one just as I was climbing the hill to my house. All is well, good time to buy the insulator blocks from PMO.
It was great meeting everyone, Cheers..

Now you guy's know why I work on 914 V8 conversions... plenty of mid engine V8 madness in the family.
B
The guy who drove slow
was an insane blast of fun! thanks for showing up!!!!!!
made my week...month.... year!
you peeing in that bottle while we were stuck in traffic on the 1-15 was an insane blast of fun?
Monday you will be an admin/SoCal 914World.com rep (if you so choose) You are exaclty what "I/we" look for when trying to grow the site. I need more people like you. You take the initiative to hold events/gather people. The benefits are slim.. but it is a tad more than PP gives DD..
Let me know what you think. I have been watching people from all over the USA on the club site looking for good solid "reps" in our weak area's.
B
It's "Fo Shizzle"
B
brad..im in like flynt,
glad to serve some purpose here.
Mo pics of the black 914Ragtop? Anyone?
Is that Alex Claytors former car?
:headbanger It looks like it was a good run. sorry I missed it. just had to many things going on around the house. but if the new engine works out I wont miss the next one
Bernie
HAD A F----ING BLAST!!!!!!
Hell yes that was the best part!
Aaron,
I changed your 'status' tonight.. so I didnt forget. We will chat soon.
I also changed your screen name. Feel free to change it back 9once you figure out how to do it..LOL)
I personally would prefer for you to use your name...
B
wow... just noticed. thanks for lending me this honor. means alot.
new name is fine. im 'star struck'
Well that was a blast! My first 914 fun run and what a nice turn out. Ortega is a nice venue—good draw from LA, Orange, Riverside and San Diego counties. Thanks to Acox914 for setting it up. It was nice to meet with fellow San Diegans stevedee and siverson for the caravan up. We must have just missed a fourth for the caravan—a nice stock orange 914-6. We would have waited for you if we knew you were going to meet us. We passed through a couple of light showers on the way up, nothing serious and we were dry by the time we pulled into Best Buy. It was 914 heaven up on Ortega when you had a 914 in front of you and one in the rearview. Lots of fun watching the clean blue 3.2 in the rearview close the gap at near light speed on the Corona flats. Little bit nervous when the rusty red bug was on my tail—hoping it could stop as well as it could go! Dang that gold Mini van on the flats and how about that white sedan on the West side of Ortega that didn’t know what a turn out was for! Geesh, 15 sports cars behind it in tight trail and they didn’t know what to do?!?! Enjoyable lunch with the WRX crew and it was a pleasure to run with you all. Took a few pictures, too.

-Steve
Great job, Aaron! Congrats on the "promotion." Looking forward to participating in the near future. Just got to get a few loose ends wrenched together.
Looks like the area is starting to green up after the recent rains. It's amazing that the first rain of the season comes and the area thinks it's springtime! Thanks for the pictures.
Wayne (type47fan)
Way to go Aaron!!
I had a blast at the fun run. Here's some more pics from yesterday. I won't post them all, just some highlights.
Mike D.: Didn't mean to lose you when the I-5 got slow. It was just an automatic reflex for me to exit the freeway at that spot and take an alternate route (I'm on OC transplant).

Next 2 shots are kind of interesting. While we were at Ruby's there was a black 356 with a luggage rack that left the parking lot. As we were eating, a silver once kept passing by. I was taking a picture of the silver 914 at the end of the train, and the silver 356 got caught in the picture.
Attached image(s)
And then, I was taking picture of the white 914 that joined us at Ruby's (sorry, don't know who this or the previous 914 belonged to) and an orange 914 got caught in the picture. Not sure if it was one of us, either.
Attached image(s)
And lastly, this guy was parked across from us on PCH. Had the darndest time taking his picture, because traffic kept blocking the shot.
Attached image(s)
Special thanks to Joe and his red 'taildragger!' If he didn't wait for us at the exit of PCH I would have gotten the rest of the train lost going to Ruby's!
One of the funniest moments of the whole ride was waiting at a red light in Elsinore. Some gentleman in an SUV saw Dad's type III and hollered 'Nice car ... truck ... whatever that thing is!!' and a kid trying to get us to go to a car wash give it a really manly 'whoa! yeah! that thing is a beast!'
I drive slow? I was doing the best I could. It was great to be surrounded by so many 914's on a Saturday morning. Good run, thank you Aaron for engineering this event. Hope to do more like this soon.
Attached image(s)
you dont drive slow...we drive TOO FAST!!!!
didnt seem to be a single problem the wholetime. thanks you all for coming! see you next month!
Any pics of aarons car smoking?
still burning all the oil off that one heat exchanger..... from the valve cover leak....
From all of you whom took pics... would it be possible I could get copies from you all? I'll pay postage and media expense if I could please have a copy of all the pictures thanks
Why dont you just right click on each picture and save it to your computer. Put them all into a single folder like I do and you will in time, have pictures of thousand of 914's. I bet I have more than actual cars still running and on the road.
because the real digital pictures are probably at 1280x1024 resolution and these aren't all of them
The originals are 1280 x 1024.
Brando, send me a PM with your address and I'll mail you a CD.
Awesome pictures eveyone!
Looks like it was a hella fun run! Wish I could have been there. Maybe next time.
Congratulations on your admin status Aaron!
You totally deserve it for making those events runs so successful in an area that gets bashed for no interest or attendance.
Aaron, You Rock!
thx toast,
i better see you at the AX and/or the dec. fun run!
