Hey Brian, sorry I don't recall seeing you here before, so . You're doing some really nice work with your dad's car. I would much rather see you keep it, but I'm sure you'll make sure it goes to a good owner. Great work!
When you finish you should drive and see if you still want to sell!
Realy nice work , and welcome to the world , it seems like you starting well, can you post a little bit of your background working with cars.
the car looks like it is in pretty good shape!
Ah, west coast cars... So nice...
On the one shot of the manifolds, it looks like the two manifolds have different color injectors. is that the case, or is that just my interpretation of the picture.
All the injectors should be the same color or else it will be an issue.
I forgot if they are supposed to be yellow or black for a 70 1.7, but someone here will know.
Hi and
Nice on the rust repairs, I'll be doing my own soon (hopefully).
I noticed the intake manifold looks like it's for L-jet and that isn't stock for a 71.
I could be wrong, I'm no expert. It may be related to the different color injectors, if they are in fact different.
Ill bet someone has been tinkering in there.
You really need to figure out the up/down thing with your phone pictures ...
How many miles?
That guy trapped in there is my friend Sean, he is a professional welder, and is helping me with my rust issues.
We have all the panels tacked in, and in a couple weeks we are transporting to his shop so he can TIG everything nice and clean.
All the injectors are yellow, but when i painted the metal portion when i was cleaning the motor i might have missed a spot when masking and got some black paint possibly maybe.
I never even thought to look at the mileage, my guess is 100,000+, this car was my dads daily commuter until he parked it in the garage sometime in the 1990's.
and looks great. you cant go wrong with yellow
hoping to get the car into the welding shop by the end of the year to finish up with what we started.
Will post more pics when it happens!

I'm having my fiance go to a tractor supply on her way from the bay area and pick up a bag of coal slag blasting media!
After blasting i'll seam seal and paint engine bay.
more updates later
First......
Second...all that time and effort and history, it seems a shame to then sell it
Third.....let us know what the VIN is so we can add it to our data base
Fourth...nice going so far on your refurbishment
Paul

Welcome back. Are you driving it? Being your Dad's car, your should keep it.
Brian,
Great looking repairs you and your buddy did.
How's it running now?
Did you decide to keep it?
Dave
Great job so far. Keep it up. Maybe once you drive it, you'll keep it???
runs on starting fluid, having a bad pump or pump is not running because of electrical contacts..?
ahh, finally remembered to get the VIN number
4712907960
just came into the registration month and went to AAA to pay dmv fee and hagerty insurance. All set there
Now just need to order that fuel pump and brake calipers.
hopefully removing front air dam for repairs tonight, also removal of door sill sheet metal for repainting. Must i buy new rivets, the 6 on each side?
thanks for any input
-B
ok i removed the passenger side door sill but having two rusted cheese head screws on drivers side causing a headache. will using pb blaster then an impact driver to loosens those this weekend.
also i will need to raise the car up high to get the front airdam off because i cant get an arm or see what holding it on there
-B
had a bad ignition switch, found pricey replacement, then to broke the 12 pin plastic connector that attaches inside the dash for ignition/turn signal terminal. On hold until i glue or find a replacement connector.
going the fix it myself , glue it back together and make a mold and pour resin route.
Update! I had bad relay board, and 3 bad injectors but all replaced now.
The car started on second key turn and idles smooth. I changed the master cylinder and will be bleeding rear and front brakes in the next couple days. I need to adjust the clutch, was having problems into first and reverse.
Yay for me!
side note, i did take the car out for a slow drive on a quiet street.
