914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Custom Finish for 2.0 Fuchs

Posted by: ezbngreen914 Dec 13 2012, 02:08 PM

Just got a set of original 2.0 Fuchs. One is bad but I have a "non-black insert" wheel to replace it. They are all a little scuffed up and the "non-black insert" wheel doesn't match so I wanted to refinish them. I've seen a couple of thread where folks have polished or refinished like original but I thought it might be neat to go outlaw with them. Just wanted to see if anyone had done anything like that before or if anyone had any ideas. My car is green so any crazy colors might be to much. I was kind of thinking powder coat black or grey gloss... Ideas and photos welcome beerchug.gif I will post some photos later.

I liked what they did with the Japanese SL cars. They painted the spokes to match the rockers, bumpers and valances. I think it looks better than the painted Mahles on the US 914 LE.

I've been thinking a lot about gunmetal plasti-dip for the 2.0's lately...think it could be a great look and if its not, it will peel right off!

I think a really classy, subtle finish is to polish the spokes and paint the recessed areas a medium light gray.

I went with the gray/polished look for mine.

I started a long thread about 4 cyl Fuchs a couple years ago. My .02: stock (polished paddles & lips with blasted insets) or fully polished.

Fake Fooks. Just wheel paint but they look a lot better than they did before.

I just wish I could get that air dam to fit right. Attached Image

I'm not bolting anything to the trunk lid Perry. That's silly. It's an air dam not a spoiler.
And anyway, this thread is about wheels. dry.gif

The bend in the middle of it is your problem, Dave. Try heating it up. Maybe a MAPPS torch. Then lay something heavy like a tool box on it. I think once you straighten it oot some you'll be gud. thumb3d.gif

Report back. With pics.

Look, Dave - ignore these guys. Do what I said and heat the hell out of it. FG heats up nice. Then flatten, then install.
