Pics to follow in the next post.
Went to look at a 74 914 that's been hit in the front. There is some buckling in the front trunk, but it seems to be on the side of the hit. Hood is ok, but headlight bucket is twanged.
Pics below show the ripples and such in the front trunk. Is it fixable?
Anything is fixable given enough time and money.
I would pass...too many nice cars out there
my 914 had some hidden damage from a past hit like this
check under the spare tire for the mounting point of the front A-arms
on mine, there is a rip in the sheet metal! A hole through from the front suspension being hit in that old accident and being forced backwards. When I swapped to a rebuilt front suspension, I had to hammer and hammer to get it to even fit (i.e. the straight part didn't fit my damaged 914). Alignment is OK now, but....
Looks like the front suspension mounting points are compromised.
To fix this correctly, this will need to be pulled on a Celette bench.
