I just noticed that my engine number is missing a leading zero. From everything else I can tell from the databases it matches the chassis vin number for a '73 2.0 but it Is just one number short. Anyone else come across this?

Mine is like that, too. 1.7 from 72.

I just looked at a GA case, 6 numbers only follow the GA.

That's strange that the databases are wrong but I'm happy because it means I got the original GA motor for my car

Nothing is wrong with your GA case #, but that chart you linked did add an extra digit after the GA, so they're not the experts they think they are at "big porsche"!

There is no correlation VIN to engine nor transaxle case numbers, except what you can get from you car's COA (Certificate of Authenticity from PCNA), which is the only way to verify if you have a "matching numbers" car.

But you can tell if your engine # and Transmission # etc are fitting the range according to certain databases.
