914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Firewall Bushing Install

Posted by: microsa Nov 10 2004, 04:17 PM

I need to replace the firewall bushing on YellowDog. I've got everything ready and shift linkage out of the way. The old one was not there (surpirse) and I have been tring to get the new on in with no luck. I've tried a large deep socket and a mallat, but so far all i've got is a busted knuckle. Anyone got any secret tricks?
TIA

put it in a cup of water and heat it up in the microwave.
that'll soften the plastic. then pound on it with a BFH ...

Hot water and larger BFH did the trick! Now, to deal with that flattened out finger that got in the way. Hard to type.
Thanks

I worked the edges in with a screwdriver. Worked for me, but YMMV.
