Thank you all.

I walked into work this morning with a nice message from a solder in my fathers unit. I'm so proud to be included in their thoughts. I regret having never served, but my father paid the ulitmate price. He was a LRP in the 101 Airborne.

Thanks again to all who served.

Ok.. We have the Army and the Air Force, Plus the Canadian Air Force checking in. Where is the Department of the Navy? We seem to be lacking in Navy and Marine Corps vetrans. confused24.gif

Navy I can understand... they just ride around in ships and sleep late. But the Marines? I thought they actually worked for a living. lol2.gif

Hey Clay finger.gif As for the marines, well their pay checks are endorsed by the Department of the Navy....

I gotta pick on the Navy/Marines. My family has always been it the Navy. My grandfather was a DI at Great Lakes during WWII. My uncle was in the Navy during Korea. Two of my cousins were in the Navy, and one in the Marines.

So I joined the Army just to be contrary. And remember, the Marines may be the first to come ashore, but they always find US Army Airborne troopers that have been there for hours softening it up for them.

One reason you see few Marines here compared to the others is easy to explain.

Less than 1% of the US population claims the title. 1.5% tries to claim the title but can't make it off Parris Island. (that was the statistic when I was in atleast)

The Marines are department of the Navy, but thats just so the squids will have someone that can actually fire a weapon help save their asses...LOL. But our corpman and doctors are Navy so it all works out.

Evaluation I'm the most proud of has this line in it

Chief Traver does extremely well with enlisted and jr. officers, however, he sometimes shows a decided lack of tack and diplomicy with senior officers.

I told 1 admiral, and quite a few capt's and commanders to go Fuck Themselves. I kept them honest, they didn't like that. I retired with 20 years good conduct, my honor, and my integrity. That's good enough for me.

6 years as a medic, 1970 to 1976
Learned how to erect GP large tents in the field, tear them down and set them up again.

1-1/2 years, OH-58 mech., Aviation Co., 1981 to 1982
Good Army training, earned my wings smilie_pokal.gif

1/2 year as a tank commander, Amor unit, 1982 to 1983
Transfered from choppers to tanks, what the F... was I thinking? headbang.gif

1/2 year batt. photographer, Engineering Batt., 1983

The ultimate gig. Getting paid to fly and I was able to get some
