914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Wiper switch

I was over at my neighbors 914 bone yard getting some parts. While in one of the cars I was checking out the steering column 'cause my turn signal switch doesn't work and noticed that there is a wiper/washer handle on the opposite side of the column. Mine doesn't have this, I have a button on the dash that operates the wipers and no idea how the washer is activated. Is this something that was changed, my neighbor says that is the case.

Yup... changed in 72-73 or something like that. Someone here can give you the real answer but yes, they went on the column.

Four cyl. cars thru '71 had the wiper switch on the dash, all sixes and '72 on had column switches. Your washer should work by pushing in the center of the switch.

I think that was a production change with the early '72 cars, along with all the other interior appointments.. pass seat adjust... ect..

So, 72.5s up...

Thanks guys, can I use the turn signal switch from the newer one on my '71?

IIRC, the later switches run their wires thru a connecter. You should be able to just take them out of the connecter and splice them into your wiring.
