914World.com _ 914World Garage _ New paint to me

Posted by: charliew Feb 26 2013, 10:11 AM

This is a email update I have been getting for a coupla years about new stuff to coat things with and a multitude of applications including some sheeting applications.
It's called Alsa. They have spray on chrome but I think I remember it takes more than one gun to apply the chrome product. Go to the home page and watch the spray gun video. They even have a temperature color changing coating. I haven't tried any of their stuff. I was in my local ppg store yesterday and the camelion paints are about 2800.00 for the quantities to paint a car so this stuff seems much better priced at first glance. All of ppg's top of the line paints are very costly now days and the chemistry is changing so fast it's hard to keep up with even for us out in the country that don't have the bs epa restrictions of the big citys.

I've drop a bit with ALSA to play around with some of this stuff, yet it sits on the shelf waiting for me to find the time to play with it. dry.gif The chrome is VERY tricky to learn. A little to much hand it looks like crap, a little to little and it looks like crap. Basically if you can see it going on the black, you've put too much on. sad.gif It is neat to make effects like brushed al, or brushed stainless. I want to try and do then engine turined look, but just don't have enough time to play around with it.

Another good one is INNATE. Between these 2 and ol skool flake, I have little use for HOK and their overpriced stuff

Thats like the film dip stuff you will waste some money learning the process. Thanks for the links.

I was sorta thinking about the brushed aluminum on the plastic covers on the suby motors.
