914World.com _ 914World Garage _ 914-6 GT calipers

Posted by: mepstein Mar 2 2013, 12:17 PM

I found a pair of Ferrari calipers and had Eric convert them to 914-6 GT calipers. What do you think is a reasonable selling price?

Ask Erc. Or check the last set that sold on eBay.

Just remember, asking price and actual selling price are not the same.

Are these the one's you have in the for sale section?

The price might be right, but now you have to find a buyer.

The price is right. Tax time is coming up soon for a lot of people and they might be holding back a little. The return to higher taxes hit working people.

Yes, they are listed in the classifieds. Thanks for your input. Mark

Can some one educate me on "GTvs -6" calipers?

Ps...other than the spacer for vent rotor and 38mm pistons

Thanks

GT's are 6 calipers with the spacers to accept vented discs. That's it.

What seems to be the average in the market for the last year is:

914-6 = $1,200.00 restored
914-6/GT = $1,500 restored

914-6 = $6-800 unrestored (with pistons because you can't find pistons anymore) biggrin.gif

Ironically, if you could find a Ferrari guy in need, they would probably sell for $2,500. No eyes batted.

The spacers and the longer fasteners are the only difference between the -6 and the -6/GT calipers. Pistons are all the same (larger) 38mm size).

Aren't you making the pistons?

Posted by: Eric_Shea Mar 6 2013, 12:25 PM

Yes... the shells are available in stainless steel, not the internals.

We also make the "alloy" pistons for your new calipers but, then you would have alloy on steel. Not a good mix as the S-Caliper has proven.

That's why that pair in the classifieds was a bad deal. It will cost a pretty penny to get internals made up but, we can do it. (I tried to subtly warn peeps) smile.gif

What? It's true. biggrin.gif

They've been paying over a grand for just a rattle can rebuild until we came along. They generally just give you the AmEx number and don't ask questions... very similar to 914 guys blink.gif

Rotors - We're using 911 rear rotors for the most part. they'll require the caliper ears be spaced back 4.5mm (or the rotor spaced out). You can still find the real GT rotors as well. They're around $260 each from Germany (not a bad price when you consider you probably will never need another pair in most circumstances).
