914World.com _ 914World Garage _ oil pump for 2056

Posted by: jmargush Mar 4 2013, 06:43 PM

What are the recommendations for an improved oil pump for a 2056?

I have heard that Melling has a cast iron pump, and Schadek also supposedly has a good pump.

What are the pros and cons?

Any others pumps that are good improvements over the stock pump?

And what's wrong with the stock pump? Works fine with 2 liters. Why wouldn't it work fine with 2.1 liters, more or less? If it ain't broke, don't fix it ...............

If your existing pump is in good shape, use it. If its not in good shape, then worry about the others.
You don't need a bigger pump unless you are doing a larger oil system (like a front mount cooler or the like.)

Just remembered reading some about stock type 4 pumps weren't as robust as Type 1.

Maybe that is in relation to higher capacity oil systems.
