914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Oil temp gauge and sender help

Posted by: porsche913b_sp Mar 12 2013, 07:33 PM

Ok, so here are my parts, can you please confirm which sender I should use with the proper gauge. I am thinking the 200c sender with the 200c gauge, am I safe to assume that ?

Thank you

I have been told by the guys at Palo Alto Speedo that that the senders are pretty much the same resistance range, so if you match the temperature range you are at least going to be close.

If that is true (for gauges as old as ours) then the 200C sender should work great.

If they're not, then I have no clue what would work...

It's a bit cumbersome but you could use boiling water to double check rough accuracy.

agree.gif I've done this many times. When you have the sender in boiling water mark the gauge where the needle is and you'll know when you engine oil is at 212deg.
