914World.com _ 914World Garage _ What is this rubber trim and where can I get more?

Posted by: grogthegreat Mar 30 2013, 11:06 PM

So I'm putting a 2.5L type 4 into my 68 912 with a 911 style upright cooling. I needed some rubber trim to put onto some of the edges of the cooling shroud and cooling tins so I started looking through all my extra 914 stuff when I came across this rubber trim piece. It looks great and fits even better but I don't have enough!

Where can I get more and where was this rubber trim originally used?

It kinda looks like the trim piece that's on both sides of the "vertical" tin piece that separates the engine case and the transmission. There's about a 9" piece on both sides and doesn't appear to be rubber.

Trim surrounding the engine lid.

I got some rubber edging like that at my local upholstery shop. They had several sizes. Pegasus Racing may have some too.

http://www.trimlok.com it's called edge trim

They have lots of profiles available and will ship "samples" in 1 foot lengths.

I concur, it was used on the engine lid.
