If anyone is passing thru Colorado, use caution. The weather here is not conducive to driving. Snow and wind are pretty bad. They're predicting ice this evening and night.
Safe travels all!

These photos leave me with one question: how well does a 914 do doughnuts in the snow? I've been curious about this for a long time.
As long it's snowing someone should find out. And then post the video.

At Gettysburg, I peeled off US 15 from the caravan with Richmond guys. Stopped at ABC for beer and a burger and the tire went flat rather quickly on the way home from there. I must have picked up a nail on Herrs Ridge Road. When we got it here, I filled the tire so we could roll it into the garage, and it was flat again in no time.

Canada. It's also a crap shoot on taxes, you are allowed so much free then it's up to the officer, some charge you on every penny, some go "meh...pay the tax on this and that but forget the rest", and some don't even want to be bothered and just wave you through.
I was going through customs with a praticlly a whole VW bug (front and rear hoods 4 fenders, etc) stuffed in my car, 3am guard asked if other people were in the back seat I told the officer what it was and she closed her booth window. I gave her the and she motion me to GTFO One other time I thought I was going to get probed As long as you claim a reasonable amount they are cool with that, just don't totally BS them.
When you cross into Canada you only report to Canada customs, not US customs.
Same deal when going into the US, only US customs you don't stop at Canada Customs.

It was good to see everybody again this year and hang out at the Palmyra Knights Inn!
The 650 mi. round trip in my 914 was safe and uneventful. A bit chilly Saturday night without the heat exchangers hooked up though. The only problems were one fuse and one turn signal bulb blown.
That downpour Friday evening totally sucked though, while I was out picking up a canopy for Saturday - which turned out to be more of a liability than an asset with the wind we had all day. After I got back to the motel I put on the "Carbrella" but I don't think it rained anymore overnight.
Posted by: Live Event Uploader Apr 22 2013, 01:58 PM
Hello Colorado Rockies!
Posted by: Vacca Rabite Apr 22 2013, 02:01 PM
The downpour Friday was NO JOKE.
We had JUST gotten into Underdogs for dinner when that wave hit. I was watching it roll in while we parked. People that came in 5 minutes later were soaked head to toe just from going from their car to the door of the eatery.
Happily, that was the only real rain we got all weekend. Saturday was very windy. Many of us who put up Easy Up tents for sun and possibly rain protection quickly pulled the canvas off and spent the day under bare poles. It took me until Sunday to get warm again from spending Saturday in the wind. With my 10x10 Easy Up anchored to Chris's 914 on one end, Garold trailer on the other, and 5 wheels to block the other 2 legs, the gusts were still moving it around. No rain in sight Saturday or Sunday!
I was beat by the time I got back to the Knights Inn. Ate a bunch or ribs, drank a respectable amount of beer. Tasted the gas can. Wanted not to be hung over the next day since I was going to be celebrating my son's 5th birthday with the family before I got home. I was way dehydrated Sunday morning but I think that was more the wind then the booze. 1/2 a gallon of Gatoraid before breakfast and I was right as rain. Sunday night I got to bed at 10PM and was asleep about as soon as my head hit the pillow.
I have 4 hours of video edited down to about 6 minutes. Mostly the ride Friday, but a little of the setup for the show Saturday morning. I'm working on the audio now and will post it maybe tonight or tomorrow.

My old car! Looks awesome! This is one clean (for an East coast) 914.
Wich car was your old one ?
Here is the car in my yard before I finished the rear fender flaring.

Ahhh, did everyone at Hershey this year have the pleasure of hearing this car get revved in the parking lot every 5mins of each day?
More like an ever present drone this year.

Fantastic coverage of the event. Thanks from another who doesn't get to get out, go and do like you teeners did.

Apart from the bodywork and the engine block there's not a lot left from the original build now. Radiator & cooling fans - replaced Engine - rebuilt with new cam & rocker arm assy clutch - replaced Transmission - rebuilt shift linkage - mechanism reworked & cables replaced pedals & master cylinders - replaced springs & torsion bars - replaced Rollcage - modified wiring harness - lots of wires replaced mufflers - replaced trans mount - replaced etc. etc.

Great seeing all you East Coast Teeners again this year and Big Thanks for showing the Southern guy's a good time! Once again managed to stay away from the Gas Can and the Shine and my body thanked me. Freakin 15 hours in the saddle one way is a real bitch tho!! At least Erc had a couple of co-drivers?? Lightweights..LOL
The first time I saw the LS car it had been driven to the RCR in Huntsville with the Alien. Solid white like in build thread.
Extra thanks go to Zach/Matt for the circle tour of downtown Gettysburg *poke*
Probably looks "exactly" like Green River or... Say about 7 miles north of there in Hwy. 6. Good eye.
Should I throw out... "Ray's"?

Stupid video was 92% compiled and crashed! Grrr. Starting again. Sure put a lot of time into a 4 minute video. 8 gig of memory is only barely enough for compiling HD video. I so want to get that new GoPro using the offer in the Box. But I am afraid that would lead to buying a lot more memory or a new desktop... Zach

Where can I get a hood like this with the vent on top?

Get an external HD just for camera stuff.

Paint looks much better now
The car looks fantastic. Looks like you re-sprayed it.
That is one tight car. I remember jacking the car up under the jack point on the passenger side and the door opened and closed like it was on the ground. Almost no chassis flex.
I hated selling the car but that was the only way to make room for my 930. Wifey said 2 Porsches are ok, not 3.

I wish I could have afforded that car before Paul H. bought it. I worked on it a few times for the owner before him. It was the most rustfree northeast chassis I'd ever seen until recently.

Just thought we should remind Mr. Burnett that the handicap parking is for the "Physically" handicapped not the mentally handicapped.

Bring it up in June when you come to Mark's Scott! We will get it painted for you in no time!
I bought the same shirt from Stoddards. It matches my car
That was me. Signal Orange is one of my top 3 colors being considered for Babydoll, the others being Light Ivory (current) and Silver Metallic. I own an orange Corvette and I'm an Orioles fan. So yeah, orange is always in the mix.
Not sure why this did not upload in High Def. May try and fix it. Right now I'm beat and going to bed! *edit* there is the HD! Haha!
Zach
Great job Zach. Very cool video...
I will remember to do the same thing next year so we can have more like this...
Awesome job. Thanks for taking the lead on the drive and the event, it was much more fun to do friday and I hope we do it again next time...
We should see if we can get Pocano.... Maybe go up into the mountains next year... Looks like there should be some good roads up there...next to the super long ass hills getting to Scranton.

Exellent video! Sorry that I missed it , but I did make up for it by doing my first AX last Sunday!

Thanks. I was thinking next year we could head due west into the hills. I was not able to drive the route due to time constraints. If I had some of the directional issues could have been fixed. I would have found the turn that Google did not know about that was the reason for the detour on Rt 15 and us being 45 minutes late for lunch...
Did you have your own spot? Is this your stuff? I must have walked right by you a couple times!

Hey, pesonally I had a great time, it was a blast and hope Zach will do it again next year. I'm just happy to be behind a 914 wheel that's running great, doesn't matter where I'm going. We may need to get a Parade Permit and a Police escourt next year though.
