914World.com _ 914World Garage _ So Cal BBQ Come one, Come all

We are going to have a BBQ in OC for Jared, (DrifterJay) as he is being deployed in about 3 weeks and we want him to know we care and will be thinking about him. The BBQ will be at Joe Buckle's house on December 4th starting around 11:00. All local teeners are welcome with or without your car. Joe is fantastic on a BBQ, being from Texas and all. Its the first time we have done a gathering at his place. I will make a map and post it if you guys will speak up and let us know who all will be coming so we know how much food we need. He has a very large BBQ. He is in Garden Grove off the 405 and Valley View. I would expect all the local boys to show up, there will be beer and sodas and the normal BBQ stuff. Should be a good time. If anything comes up or changes, they will be posted in this thread on this post so it will always be the first post you read. If anyone gets lost, you can call my cell phone at 714-318-3889.
Let's send him off with a 914Club party!!!

Yeah, he is the one who has had so many problems with his car. He has only been on one run and that was to the LA WCC05 meeting when his clutch burned up on the way back and we towed it to my house where Slits came out and brought him replacements and we put it all in and he blew up the engine on his way home that same day. This poor guy needs the support.

He is installing the engine today, last I heard, his starter stopped working and he was on his way to get a new one.

Ok, Have to change the day to Saturday the 4th. Something came up with Joe and he wont be able to host it that day. So the first post is edited with the correct date now. Map to come.

Ok, Have a couple of requests, first, we need to know who is coming so we need an RSVP by this Saturday so we can get everything together. Also, when you RSVP I will send you the map to get there. It has been requested that I not post the map to his house on a public forum. I can understand that so the map will be mailed to all who RSVP. You can PM me if thats easier.

Let me clarify what we need, if you plan to attend, please send me a PM so I can get an accurate count and please do so by this Saturday. Also let me know if you need a map. It will be from 11:00 AM to about 3:00 PM. That should be enough time to talk, take pictures, eat, and still be home to go out on your weekend dates. We dont want to tie up your whole day. Just come out and party with some 914 people.

No Problem Matt, its only for a few hours and we are not very far from you. It will be fun. I was hoping and Admin would nail this so it stays on top (Hint hint) but as long as people keep replying, it will get bumped from time to time.
I will be taking pictures and posting them up also.

Bummer, that's the same time the OCR/PCA is making our CHOC run for dropping off the toys for little kiddies that aren't feeling too good.
With that and the D&G 911 meet on Sunday I don't think I can sneak any other Porsche plans by the wife.

Yep, on Sunday the 5th they are having a D&G, but this time it is geared towards the 911 instead of 914s.

Jared appreciates you wanting to attend, however, I dont think anyone here will give him a hug. You will have to do that in person. He wanted me to take a picture of him with his car in a way that everyone will remember him. He saw a picture on my desktop and wanted to pose like that so here are both pictures so you can remember him in a special way. Brad, he is being deployed on the 11th so we had to have it the weekend of the 5th.

Well, Aaron better show up, he is the one that got Jared into the 914 scene and they are supposed to be friends, he can study afterwards. No, Jared will not be posing for us at the party, however you may get Slits to if you talk nice to him.

Brad, That would be great if you could make it down. The more the merrier. There is a strong possiblilty that the BBQ at Joe's will be the first event my Chalon actually makes it to. Kind of a "Debut"

Major understatement there Joe. You can cook anytime, but with a little assistance, you can work on cars too. You just need a little guidence once in awhile. I know you can take anything apart as good as anyone I know.

Well, Brando, you are more than welcome to join us, I heard Aaron already has a passenger and I am pretty sure Slits will also. Get your car running and drive it out here. It's looking like about 20 people or so will be showing up. Maybe more. You dont have to drive your teener to show up.

ok, i just had to clean my smoker, cuz, it was kinda nasty!!
Seasoned up two pork shoulders and two beer up the butt chickens. got some burgers too.
And if you are vegitarian i make sure all the meat was seasoned with herbs and spices, so, you can simply take a piece of meat and lick off the seasoning. or i'll be happy to make you a bread sandwich.
i'm tired and need to get a few hours of sleep before firing up the smoker before dawn!!

Well, I got here about 6:05 and when I pulled up, you could smell it. It's an awesome smell. So just get off the 405 at Valley view and follow your nose. Pictures to come. Joe in his pajamas in front of the BBQ and the 2 birds standing at attention ready to go into the smoker. The food will be great as always. Hope you all can make it.
