914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Cut out after hard left turns

Posted by: tadink May 3 2013, 03:31 PM

Hey all -

first noticed this at some AX's I was doing and could not decide if it was fuel, rev-limit on the dizzy, or fuel.

Now - after serious diagnosis on the lovely twisty Wooden Valley road heading to Suisuin from Napa - I have determined that:

1. Left turns cause stutter
2. right turns do not
3. full or 1/3 tank does not matter
4. topped up oil does not matter
5. happens more when the temps are up

WTF.gif

The symptoms are: heading into the corner briskly no throttle - then throttle on medium at apex -- then stutter sputter -- and back on again.....pretty much after the corner has been exited.....

I'm at a loss - anyone else ever see this?

My75 would do that on a hard right. It was a clogged filter

A few things I would look at:
1 Check Fuel Pressure - 28lbs for FI
2 Check all grounds - Top of engine
- Trans. strap

3 Check head temp sensor connection

4 Check Filter

Good luck

Make sure the coil is secured tight with the clamp. BTDT.

And if it's a Bosch blue coil, you need some spacer since they are thinner than the original coils. I used a strip of rubber around the coil to get the clamp to fit tight.

Ditto on the head temp sensor. I've had those go intermittent due to frayed wires just after the metal crimp on the sensor end. Tough to diagnose because static test would always pass.

Good luck and let us know what you find.
