Doing some casual reading about the (butt ugly) Murène bodykit made by the french coachbuilder Henri Heuliez i came across the claim that the Murène was actually build on a pre-production prototype chassis!

Elle porte le numéro de série Porsche 1300005, indiquant que la base est en fait une 914 de pré-série prise prélevée au tout début de la chaîne de fabrication (la première 914-6 officielle porte le n°9140430001) !
Does anyone have access to the car to possibly verify the VIN?
As far as i know all prototype shells that were shipped to Porsche were stamped by Porsche with (prototype) VINs on top of the passenger side fender.

well, it says, that the car has the Body number 1300005
this is a very early Body number, but has nothing to do with a prototype status
the other sentence just says, that the first official 914-6 VIN is 9140430001 - which shouldn't be correct
as we know (at least think to know ), the first official 914-6 VIN is 9140430011 ...

914.043.0011 and 914.043.0012 have no Karmann numbers or badges.
914.043.0033 is Karmann numbers 130008

Alright, so that would put it somewhere between 0012 and 0033, which is really early, but *not* pre-production (pré-série) as claimed on that page.

Exactly.
So far the case for #11 as the first official production car has been really weak.
