My altenator siezed yestarday. I just finished changing it today and now the red light next to my brake light on the dash stays on after I start the car. The light has a G in a circle above it, but is this also my battery charge light(I have no owners manual).
If so, I'm guessing I wired it up wrong?

That light should go out when you start the car. Not sure how you could have wired it wrong. 1 plug for the relay board and the chargeback wire for the starter.
Your voltage regulator may have puked also.

That "G" is for generator... it has nothing to do with the brakes.

does it go out if you 'blip' the rpms?
ive had the (G) light when i first start my car, goes out when you blip it once....

I know I wired it right. I'm going to try a new V regulator. Hope that will do the trick.
We are all here to learn. Make sure you didnt sling the belt off the alternator.

Yeah, G is for generator, not gas.
Dam I think PO plugged my oil light into the green hole. I always thought it was a little stupid of the Germans to make a green light come on when you ran out of oil pressure. So the green is for the gas low warning ???
I have never had my Gen light come on, I know the bulb is fine and by looking at the volt guage I am charging. Should I look into this, I see another project coming on.
The green light in the LH gauge is the oil pressure light. It should come on when the key is on but the engine is not running.
The red light with the "G" in it is the generator light. It should come on when the key is on but the engine not running. Be very careful on the bulb that is in it. The bulb is critical for the charging system to charge correctly. If you put the wrong bulb in it, it won't charge.
If you have a temprature gauge, the red light with the "B" in it is the brake warning light. It should flash on and off when the park brake is pulled up, and the key is on.
If you don't have a temprature gauge, then you will have a big red light where the temp gauge would go across the top of the gauge.
The low fuel light is located in the fuel gauge in the lower left corner. It comes on when the float in the tank reaches the bottom of it's travel. When it comes on, you have 2.5 gallons of gasoline left in the tank.
