914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Aftermarket wheel thread

Posted by: '73-914kid May 29 2013, 11:01 AM

Just curious.. Everyone post up pictures of aftermarket wheels. I don't think it would be a terrible idea to have a thread that shows all different options for 914 wheels people wanting to get a different set of wheels.

Show me what you got. I'll start out..

VTO Wheels 15x7 minilites. Fit with an almost identical offset to 15x7 cookie cutters.

Do the VTO wheels use a flat of a cone lug bolt/nut? The ones I want are one sale but it sounds like they come with nuts rather then bolts and i dont know any sorrce for flat seat bolts.

Posted by: '73-914kid May 29 2013, 05:43 PM

VTO wheels are all 60degree conical seat nuts.

Thank you
They are 6 "x 15" The tires are Dunlop Sport 8000's 205-55 ZR's
The wheels were mfd. in England from the 60's-70's and were often seen on sports race cars.
Panasport, EMPI and many others are copies of this wheel.
I don't know if the wheel had a model number or a name. They are pretty hard to find and can be expensive. A much wider size of this wheel was often used on the rear of period 911 and 914GT race cars. Visit the 914 GT site for more pictures.
Minilite is still in business. The wheels look about the same but are all aluminum now.
The tires are probably NLA
AFAIK the yellow highlights are original.

Good question,6x15 will fit but not sure about the 7x15's I have (ex 85 944),not sure but I think the offset is the same as the 7x16 Fuches, will need to check.

Those are 8 & 9 x 15 with 225/50/15 tires. I haven't tried them yet. As you can see, they are just sitting there. Go to the Group 4 site there's pictures of a green flared gt with the exact setup that I'm running. Here's a pic.

Their site says offset is 40mm which is same as boxster 7x16. Those fit well on
rear of 914, just plan lug length to allow for maybe no spacer up to 1/2" spacer
depending on tire, camber, spring rate.

Maxilite AG repops (check website) bought 7x16 and 8x16,took a punt buying these but quality very high, don't match the 16 fuch's exactly finish wise but very good value at around 250NZD per wheel.
Worth a browse on their site some nice wheels there for many classic cars ,Porsche wheels are well catered for.
My tyre guy knows his stuff and said they were very well made and they balanced up really well funny thing is they are a similar weight to my factory fuch's.
Only downside is the factory wheel caps don't fit .

A little late on this but mine are 15x7s. I'm running 195s but the car came with 205s. They fit fine and the car is well below stock height. Although there is probably only about less than a 1/2 in between the tire and the rear fenders.
