914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Clutch cable nut on tranny side

Posted by: dfelz Jun 22 2013, 09:26 AM

As title says, need to know the pitch; I am guessing it is the fine thread of an M7 bolt...

I was threading on an M7 nut last night, there was slight resistance, and the section that had been passed by the nut looked to become duller... Took the nut off to be safe, the threads didnt look mangled... just not as sharp at the peaks, so i want to get a new nut that i am sure had the correct pitch.

Thanks beerchug.gif

I think it is a 1.0 pitch.
You can find at a local hardware that has a good selection of metrics.
Locknut sould be 1st choice.

M7 X 1.0

I just bought several nylocks at my local ACE.

Yep, I carry a spare clutch cable with trunion and nuts.

It does not surprise me that you carry spare nuts, but just in case you did not know, Pfizer has something for that.

I knew I couldn't get away with that statement for long.

Eli Lilly makes 'em bigger though!

I've had good luck using two m7 nuts and locking them together. Even with a nylock, i found that over the course of a month of daily driving, the nut started to unwind enough to where the pedal felt different..

Nylock won't hold over the long run. Double-nut it.
