914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Looking for Rocker arm bolts

Posted by: pcdarks Jun 23 2013, 03:52 PM

I stripped the threads on a rocker arm bolt on a 1.7 engine. It's the bolt that has larger threads going into the head. Any help finding replacements?? Thanks Also I will want new nuts too.

Try the "Want to Buy/For Sale" Section.

How do you strip rocker arm bolts?

Do you own a torque wrench? confused24.gif

Actually I think they were galled when they came off. They were very hard to turn all the way. yes I own a torque wrench but the damage was done by the time they went back on. 1 stud for sure and another I will replace to be safe the other two are fine. Are they the same for VW engines? There is a VW shop in SLC that might have them.

Ask 'em for "studs", 'cause that's what they're commonly called.

What "type" engine is the 1.7? If it is the same as a VW then needing a Porsche part may make it more expensive.

All of the 914-4 engines are "Type IV" motors. So if you're asking for parts at a VW place, ask for those.
