914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Another Gasket Question

Anyone know where I can get the gasket for the temp sensor that mounts to the plenumn? Is there a VW equivalent? Thanks

I believe that is the cold-start valve (basically an injector that squirts gas into the plenum when the temp is real cold (can't remember the cutoff). I thing the true temp sensor itself is towards the passenger side rear of the engine (on top).

Okay then, anyone know where I can get a cold start valve gasket?

Make one, or just use goop. Little gaskets like that are always a pain to source, and rarely worth the bother.

Perhaps the specs are different on the 914 part, but the thermo-time switch (what controls the cold-start valve) on the K-Jet 911s switched on the valve when the engine temp was below 90dF, which ain't real cold in my book...It only comes on during cranking, and only for a few seconds.

Okay thanks. I'll just make one. Whoops it takes two. biggrin.gif
