I borrowed a FLIR camera from work this weekend and took some pictures of the 914. I wish I had a lift to get the car up a bit higher...

Interesting pics. why are the gauges so hot?
I was wondering that my self. Only the gauges that require power are hot; fuel, volt meter, oil pressure, oil temp & AFR, so that must be why. The CHT gauge does not use 12v and is ambient temp.
I wish the pics were larger, but that is the size it takes them at.
Were you singing that song "To much time on my hands" While you were doing this?
Pretty cool.
Hot gauges are especially surprising given that glass has such a low emissivity itself, and doesn't transmit particularly well in the IR spectrum. I have been surprised that FLIR doesn't have an intuitive software that allows one to define various emissivities based on different parts of the scene.
FLIR cameras are pretty cool though!
