guys,
i just got a letter from the DMV for my 914.

obviously, my car is not going to be back on the road for a while,
i already cancelled my insurance 6 month ago.

now what do i do with the DMV?
flag the car as PNO ??? (planned nonoperation)
what does that exactly mean? is it easy to put it back on the street
once PNOed?
the DMV wants $300 for renewal plus proof of insurance,
wich will be another $500, and i would like to save that if possible.

so, whats the best way to go from here?
my car won't probably be ready to go back onto the street for another
6 month or so.

Is your car not in their computer at all? Probably different here in Washington, but my car was in the computer, and it cost like $60 to get it all taken care of

here in CA, you need to pay your traffic tickets too when you renew your registration
that's how it adds up to $300 ...

Do the planned non-op. It's $10 (one time fee until you re-register it) and just lets them know that the car is off the street for a while. Since the car is smog exempt there should be no trouble re-registering it when the time comes. If you do nothing they will assess back-registration fees when you go to renew it.

Traffic tickets, yeah you'll have to pay those regardless
