914World.com _ 914World Garage _ OT: My little girl is very sick

Posted by: Sammy Dec 14 2004, 10:57 AM

My 11 year old daughter was admitted to the hospital yesterday with severe pneumonia.
It started as a cold, then flu, now she has lost over 10% of her body weight in 4 days.
The doc says we should know more today, whether she gets better or worse. If it turns for the better she could be home in a few days.
They're asking me questions about mold and all kinds of things, I don't think they really know much right now but are just hoping all the medicine they are pumping into her will work.
Anyone so inclinded to throw a prayer her way will be thanked any way I can.
Thanks.

Consider it done, I had it twice when I was very young, and once last year. It's no fun. Have faith, she will get better.

I hope she has a speedy recovery, having a child in the hospital is very hard, It's even harder when you get so many questions from everyone, and all that you can focus on is your child.

You got it. There is nothing more heart breaking than a child sick and in the hospital. I wish her a speedy recovery.

There are a lot of nasty things going around. We hope that she and all of our loved ones regain their health. Christmas is no time to be ill.

Damn Sam, sad.gif

Done indeed.

We went through the same dance with our 2 yr old Sunday. Thankfully the doc agreed to try one more thing before admitting her and it worked. Looking into mold and that sort of stuff was suggested to us too. Dealing with a very sick child and trying to think about whether there might air quality issues in the house is pretty overwhelming.

Good luck, and our prayers are with your family.

Posted by: ! Dec 14 2004, 11:24 AM

Ouch....me and all my girls are online with God right now....good luck. Give her a hug for me.

We look to you through the sacrifice of your Son our Lord & Savior - Jesus Christ - who died so that we can have access to you - and request your intervention - you blessing - your supernatural favor - on Sammy's daughter in her time of need. Great news!
The fever has started to break and she is coherent enough to realize where she is and recognize her mother and I.
It looks like she will turn the corner, even the doctor is acting like the worst is over. She is still very sick but it looks like she will get better instead of worse.
You guys are the greatest.
Thank you very much to those of you who are old friends and those of you who are new friends.
You wishes and prayers have helped her and my wife and I more than you can imagine.

Someone recently asked me why I hang out on a 914 list even though I am currently between 914s.
I think the answer is clear enough, the people here are more important to me than the cars. I have never, ever been associated with a group that has made me more proud to be a member.

I am not deserving of so much good will but my little princess certainly is.

She is continuing to make small improvements and I have no doubt that all your caring is helping. Hopefully before long she will start to complain, that is when I will be able to relax a little.
As soon as she is well enough I will share with her all the kind posts.
Thank you all again.

Sam,
The strength and ability of a child and family to deal with difficulties is multiplied by the support and dedication of all around them. We share a small planet and are one family. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your daughter.
My love and peace,
Larry

Posted by: Mark Henry Dec 14 2004, 06:49 PM

We went through this exact same thing with our Elizabeth about a year ago. I could not believe the support of this group of good people.

She has turned the corner and in a few weeks you will never know that she was sick....but an event like this sure does scare the crap out of any parent.

She is in our prayers tonight.

Posted by: trekkor Dec 14 2004, 06:58 PM

Sammy,

The members here have one thing in common I believe.
We know that the cars are cool , but, family comes first.

I'm happy to see all the support offered to you in your time of need.

I'll be watching for your posts of good news you'll share with us.

Best wishes. Speedy recovery. Stay positive.

OK, even better news and hopefully the last update necessary:

Jessica is home in her own warm bed smilie_pokal.gif

her fever is now what they call "low grade" and can be managed with tylenol, she has a terrible cough but the doctor says that's good? I guess so that she can clear the bad stuff out. She is taking all sorts of medicine and evidently it is working.

Anywho, she is really weak but ate a little chicken broth and crackers, looks like she'll be back to normal in a couple of weeks, maybe faster!
I figure the 914 club gets most of the credit for her recovery, the doctor and pharmacy gets what's left over biggrin.gif
Everybody here take a moment and pat yourself on the back pray.gif

I hear about other people getting sick but thought that it won't happen to us, you just never know. Happy endings are a very good thing. Thank you!
