Anyone know for sure if our 914's are going to be in DSP for next season, or CSP again? And, any other cars moved into DSP with us?
I don't know But yes I heard that too.
I have been banished to SM-2 so I can now do just about anything I want to my car. Al for a little 86b cam Oh well. The rule books were not availabe at the last event. 5 Dec.
There has been a lot of discussion about the changes on the SCCA web site. Also my last issue of Sports Car stated that the class change has been put on hold for the 2005 season

I'll confim that. We're still in CSP. However, I know they moved the Honda S2000 out BS. So now the 968 will be the car to have again in that class. I hope they do move the 914 out of CSP. We have a huge SCCA AutoX series here in the MD/DC area. I have a CSP 914 I run with them, but mainly just for seat time. I compete for FTD with the PCA (Chesapeake Region) and run about 2-3 off pace with the SCCA CSP top drivers, usually ending up 3rd-4th in class. I know I'm not driving that bad, so the car must be outclassed (that's what I keep telling myself anyway) :~)
Personally I don't care what class I am in. I'm just there to drive my toy as fast as I can. I have the oldest car at the events so who will take pleasure in boasting they whipped me. Now anybody I beat is bonus
The way I understood it from reading the FastTracks was that it was recommended to the board, and there was no objection to it, so it would probably be passed in January to reclassify us in DSP.
Am I reading the Fasttrack wrong?
I just went through the Fastrack again....
In August, pg. F-170 Under Proposeals submitted for member comment & will become effective 1\1\05, Item 18 -Move all 4 cylinder 914's to DSP.
In October, Pg. f-245, It was recommended to the board for approval (no member disapproval)
Searching up to 1/1/05 revealed nowhere that the request to reclassify to DSP was withdrawn.
I guess an email to those who know is in order.
Personally I would like to stay in C/SP and get those pesky Miata's out of this class. Move 'em to D/SP and leave us in C/SP or vice versa!
I am sure we will stay in CSP for the 2005 season, but I can't find last copy of sports car that says this <_<
Found this in the Dec o4 issue of fast track:
"- The following previously-published
class change proposals have been withdrawn:
Move from CS to ES: Porsche 914 1.7,
1.8, 2.0
Move from GS to DS: Mini Cooper S
('02+)"
Email reply from Doug Gill, Solo Technical Manager for the SCCA:
Hi, Jason,
The Porsche 914 should be in DSP for 2005. The BOD minutes are in the November 2004 FasTrack, page F-257, Item 16 http://www.scca.com/_Filelibrary/File/04-11-fastrack.pdf (9 of 24).
The Solo Rules are at the publisher right now. We are looking for them right after the holidays. They will also be on-line, too. But you'll need a hard copy at registration of Divisional and National Solo events.
Hope this helps.
