I haven't ever taken one appart before, but surprising how simple they are. Not too much to them. But what do I know?

Except, what were you doing with the chisel?

hay i had one of those under my kitchen sink, and an engine next to the couch, as well as a 914 seat next to the engine. lets see an exhaust in the bedroom closet, all the intake for my suby engine in the foyer closet, and Teri ( scotts toolwench) just pointed out a door handle on her night table.

the last i did on my car was finishing the trunk....im trying to save some money to send her to the body shop to have the underside and engine bay stripped and painted, since i cant do it myself because i dont have a lift....

the chisel...that was used in conjunction wiht the hammer to get all of those case parts apart, it just needs a lil love

If you used that on the joint, you'll never get it to seal again...

I usually use a rubber mallet to remove the tail cover and side cover. Once the tail cover is off, to split the intermediate plate, put the tranny on end on the input shaft. It splits... mueba.gif

You could have steam cleaned it first or at least a carwash. What was wrong anyway. 2nd gear secro ring like mine?

nothing really wrong with it...i had no need for it, because i need a sideshifter, and its not like an old worn tailshifter is a hot item...so i figured why not
