914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Vacuum Hose Replacement

Posted by: boxsterfan Oct 20 2013, 11:21 PM

I will be replacing some vacuum hoses in my 74 2.0L this week. Obviously, you replace the correct size for size, but does the length of the hoses matter? Some of these vacuum lines look like they were not routed to well (laying on engine in some cases).

And of course, getting the lines hooked up to where they are supposed to be hooked up.

If the hose is 6 inches or so longer will not make any difference.

As long as they hook the correct fittings together and aren't sitting coiled up in one corner of the engine bay, they're fine. Air pressure changes propagate at the speed of sound, which is fairly fast...
