914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Christmas Dinner

Posted by: Headrage Dec 25 2004, 02:09 PM

What's everyone going to have for Christmas dinner today? We are going to try prime rib, stuffing, mashed potatos with a little Claim Jumpers pumpkin pie for dessert.

I'll be solo for dinner...the wife is hanging out with her sister....so it'll be Dennys or "white-trash-pizza"*

*tomato sauce on white bread with sliced american cheese, baked in oven for a few minutes

I'm just heading out now to meet up with the rest of the family. We are doing Christmas at my step-sisters house this year. She is a militant vegetarian. I sure hope there is something to eat in between the salad and the dessert.

Due to the fact that we're 9 hours early (at least to CA) I already had my X-mas dinner IPB Image I have no idea how you'd call it, but who cares IPB Image
I've been at my mother and it was just delicious IPB Image
Unfortunately my brother can't make it. He lives in Italy with wife and little boy (1 1/2 years)

I wish all of you a delicious dinner, too

My wife is Italian, but I like traditional... so...

Ravioli's & sauce
Homemade meatbals
Eggplant parmesan
Stuffed mushrooms

Rotisserie Lamb (marinated overnight in garlic, olive oil, rosemary and black pepper
Rosemary roasted Potatoes
Asparagus

Plus...
Onion pull-apart bread
Lots of horse d' ovaries

And about six kinds of pie for desert (which is funny because there are only six adults, so we each get our own pie). IPB Image

Well, I am Sicillian but you know what they say, "When in Rome" so I am having Honeybaked Ham and then off to Joe's house with my daughter to have whatever he is cooking, lets see if I can remember what was on his menu, I think he said he was doing a Prime Rib, 4 or 5 beer up the butt Chickens, and several racks of Ribs. So by the end of the day, I should be about 8 pounds heavier.

Grilled a turkey outside just before it started to snow. Who woulda thunk it snows here like every 10 years.
Really good bird, Mashed potatoes, stuffing the usual.
Then continued on my quest to put all them hot wheels tracks together for the young'n. What sadistic bastard designed this crap.

Tonight the family all showed at my sister-in-law's house in Santa Cruz for a traditional Polish roasted pork roast with kraut (kapusta) and prunes, add my killer red cabbage recipe with black current and banyuls sauce, green beans (polish style) and red creamer potatoes cooked in milk. Dessert, assorted cookies and candies. all home made. 4or 5 bottles of Pinot and Zin including a 2000 Baleyana Fire Peak Pinot, HUGE>> Sitting here in front of the box trying not to feel overstuffed, not working....Merry Christmas!

Try a teaspoon of straight granulated sugar.
It's a bit too sweet, but I swear it works everytime!
