I think I know where most of these go but not sure where the washer goes. I already replaced the one on the fuel inlet. How about the shiny plug?

Would have loved to have lied to you, but the pic doesn't show for me.
Edit...it finally showed...what kinda carb. Top two look like a needle and seat assy, gasket looks like it for a power valve and the shiny plug, well it plugs the shiny hole (no idea unles it is threaded).
Also need to know if I could get away with not installing the spacer. I think I put it in originally because I didn't think the manifold flange would seal. What do you think/know?

Bottom of the carb...see the triangular cavities next to the chambers?

should work....looks like you have a square bore manifold and if you have a square bore carb, it will work.
Id that an Edelbrock (Carter AFB)?
Carter AFB, Edelbrock bought Carter?
Thanks, now maybe my lid will fit!

stock manifold? Eeek gawds!!! loose some weight and get an aluminum!!!!
Extra parts are never good, didnt it come with instructions? I agree though, lose the cast iron manifold and go with a Performer, you will notice an increase in performance too besides the weight factor.

That spacer is not a spacer it is an adaptor to get the bores of a larger carb to mate up to the holes of an smaller intake, or even vice versa. The smartest way to do away with that adaptor is mate the carb with a large bore alum intake.
Hey Felix, I'm running almost the same set-up on my '85 VW dualcab, except with Holley Projection. It sets up w/o any software and throttle response is real crisp...I like it way more than any 4bbl I've tried. It also offers any variation of cold/ hot, accel/decel , lean/rich tuning you can throw at it ...all done manually at the ecu. ALSO if you're using the cam gear drive with the quick change cam housing cover: make sure that the o-ring seal is fresh. I used my NEW one in the kit , but it was dry and now sweats out of the cover
I'm using a big hydraulic Isky cam and making about 400hp out of a 357", it breaks sway-away axles with ease !
Martin,
I really wanted the Holley Projection but I hear good and bad things about it. Probably depends how well it's installed but it seems to simplify tuning. The V8 owner I bought the motor from swears by Edelbrock Commander EFI. That van sounds awesome, how about posting some pics. I plan to install the 357 now because I think I talked a potential buyer out of buying it with the 283. At least have fun with it for awhile until I get my new car back in Feb.
Happy Holidays!
Felix
Felix, I need to hook up the output/input between my scanner and PC. It's never worked and my nephew who installed my new Dell system now tells me that it needs to be completed . For now my 5.7 Dualcab is at my www.msdsinc.com site in Project Vehicles
I do like the Holley Projection for its simplicity, I only added in a fuel pump kill for easier hot re-starts. Seems that on hot starts it will just keep dumping in fuel when you don't need it

If you look at the pic of the carb/throttle bores, outside the primaries (lower right in pic), there seems to be an aluminum plug of about equal size which is visible. Correct carb spacer also serves as insulator to keep engine heat from percolating gas out of carb/help cool air-fuel mixture. Small Holley would simplify rebuilding/tuning chores immensely. Once saw a Navy officer in Long Beach driving Pantera with tunnel ram and dual Hollies; radical look on a mid-engined car (probably over-kill for teener, but would look outrageous) .
