Probably not. The historical pictures show that the 'original' GT engine lids were made from two pieces of screened metal crimped in the middle.

I've made a couple of these GT engine lids.

The mesh material is not the deciding factor, it is the beveled lip on the forward part of the engine lid

yes every one I have seen however there is variation in the mesh used

GMS, I noticed that the diamond mesh is oriented forward in the above picture,
instead of side to side. Was that always the case ?
Nevermind, the shot is rotated.
