914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Long, productive weekend...

Posted by: Lawrence914-6 May 27 2003, 09:27 AM

Well, it certainly was a long weekend. I'm glad to get back to work, so I can get some rest. smile.gif

I worked on the /6 this weekend with Pam's help. Accomplished:

- Underside of floorboards scrubbed clean with drill and wire wheel. blink.gif
- Inside floorboards scraped all the tar and cleaned.
- Painted top and bottom with POR-15.
- Installed Bill Greenway's trunk shock kit.
- Replaced speedo angle drive.
- Rebuilt pedal cluster, painted with POR-15. beer.gif
- Painted pedal board.
- Replaced bushings in 914/6 throttle linkage.
- Replaced fuel lines with steel in center tunnel, cleaned under the gas tank. boldblue.gif

I found a few rust spots... So there's a bit of welding in my future. The bushings in the pedal cluster and throttle linkage were absolutely non-existent. Because of the new bushings, I had to readjust the clutch and throttle. They're still not perfect, but it's driveable. I was just too tired to screw with it anymore.

After all this work, especially to the throttle and pedal cluster, the car drives completely differently. driving.gif

Very nice. POR-15 silver? Powdercoat?

This time, I didn't take pictures. I find that projects go much quicker if I don't have a camera around. smile.gif

It's Hamerite from a rattle-can, topped with a clear coat
I'll see how long it holds up biggrin.gif

Ok I see it now.
I don't have a set in front of me to compare so thanks for the pic.

boy the stock pattern really stands out with the holes drilled and everything silver.

It must have been pedal weekend. I did a little por-15 work on mine last weekend too.

I wish I had a camera.
I also welded in all of the roll cage mounts, and por-15 the interior floor and shot the entire interior in L21E.... (tangerine)...

Those aren't stock pedals.
They are OMP pedals or pedal covers.
Look nice!

Yeah, it was good to get back to work so I could get some rest. smile.gif

I have some other projects lined up, but it's going to require me to take some time off work to get it all done.
