914World.com _ 914World Garage _ 2.0 Fuel Injectors

I ran across some non Bosch fuel injectors for 2.0 L. They were new and at a really good price. Anyone used these before?

Posted by: Jeff Bowlsby Jan 29 2014, 02:11 PM

Those Amazon injectors look like a standard D-Jet case, but who knows what their impedance and flow-rate performance is? They don't say, so we don't know if they are compatible. They could be for a smaller or larger engine.

If you need compatible injectors, see this list:

Many years ago, I picked up some "Filco" (maybe "Filko"?) brand injectors. IIRC, they tested out as being functionally identical to the stock Bosch ones.

Thanks, great info

I ask for the specs per Mr. Bowlsby's suggestion. Got some information but I think it contained a typo as the math in the cc/min to lb/hr was off. When I get the numbers confirmed I will let you know but they seemed really close maybe just a little higher overall.

Posted by: Mblizzard Jan 30 2014, 10:28 AM

OK so I finally tracked down the specs for the injector.

FJ67
Flow rate 415.29 cc/min
Weight of fuel lb/hr 40.8 lb/hr
Test pressure 248 kPA (36 PSI)

These are slightly higher than the stock numbers even when adjusted for the different test pressures.

Stock Bosch 0 280 150 019
Flow rate 380 cc/min
Weight of fuel lb/hr 37.3 lb/hr
Test pressure 300 kPA (43 PSI)

I am not sure how the math works to resolve the flow rates for the differing test pressures but assuming it is linear running these at a slightly lower psi 27 would match the flow pretty closely. Certainly no expert here but I thought I would post what I found.

Where did you find these? It might be a better alternative to increasing fuel pressure etc for those tuning a 2056 or larger. Having been there, I wouldn't mind the option.

Oddly on evil bay pretty low cost at $50. Made the http://www.ebay.com/itm/Standard-FJ67-Fuel-Injector-Porsche-914-/151194182270?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2333e0227e a best offer of $50 and got them.

Ok so I took chance and got one of these injectors. Something seems missing in the comparison of the Bosch injector on the bottom (the green one) to the FJ67.

Am i wrong in thinking the tip is missing? I think the missing part is kind of the most important part of the injector!

Posted by: boxsterfan Feb 4 2014, 10:49 AM

Maybe that is how they are able to spray enough fuel? Just dump it in.... smile.gif

Looks like they have set back the pintle for some reason. I would give it a try: spray might be better for all we know. And then tell us what went wrong. laugh.gif

I can now verify that these FJ67 injectors are a viable substitute. My 2056 is running strong with them and I have not had any problems. They are slightly higher flow rate but that seems to work well for my engine.

Standard auto parts.

I just did an online search for the Standard FJ67 injectors.
Mostly they're out of stock. Lowest price I found was $82 at Rock Auto.
My FLAPS checked with Standard and there aren't any available in the USA.

At injectorwarehouse.com the listed injector for a 914 2.0 is Bostech MP5119, priced at $35 each plus $8 core.
Has anyone used the Bostech injectors?

Posted by: Mblizzard Aug 1 2014, 12:59 PM

Chris check Amazon they have them for 33. They show a Bosch on the web site but you get FJ67.

I have 2 new Bosch ones if you are in a hurry.

Posted by: Mblizzard Aug 1 2014, 01:01 PM

Amazon gets them from AUS injection in Tempe Az. Part MP-2307

Posted by: Mblizzard Aug 1 2014, 01:25 PM

Amazon says they have 3 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001AGE7N4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Hi guys,

Just raising this thread from the dead re the Intermotor FJ67 replacement injectors.

I’ve rebuilt my 2L as a 2056cc and had to replace the old leaking injectors. The FJ67s have a higher flow rate - so do I need to reduce the fuel pressure to compensate, and if so, what to? Anyone with some real life experience able to help?

The engine just about runs but struggles to start from cold. I used an online calculator to work out what pressure would give the same flow rate as the originals and set the regulator for 22psi. But I’ve read elsewhere on the forum that the pressure should be left at 28-30 psi.

Cheers

Dom

hi dom, following down the same route shortly, 2056 and same new injectors, so more plan than experience .... I also have to rebuild the mps so it likely to be slightly out of factory spec so my plan is

2056 will need more fuel than stock - say 6% or so

have a gunson gastester - which will help set the right mix at idle (via ecu adjuster / idle screw)

i'm going to put in an 02 sensor in the exhaust just where the banks meet, which should allow for setting the fuel pressure to get mixture right across the rest of the rpm range, if pressure adjustment won't solve then move to mps adjustment.

I have been running the FJ76 on my 2056 for a while now. With L-Jet it is easier to tune by adjusting the vane meter and watching the AFR meter. Fuel pressure is stock.

I like your style. I’ve got a Gunson somewhere - not the most accurate bit of kit but should help with the idle set up. Bench test of the MPS was fine, but we’ll see.

Right, that’s enough for me to pump up the pressure back to stock and see what happens, thanks. I’ll let you know if there’s an improvement!

No negativity intended. Simply my relief that we were talking about the same FJ67 injectors, not FJ76, and his helpful advice is valid in my case.

Off topic but our family enjoyed two years there on assignment for Ford. Had a great time in the early 90’s.

Yes those were the prime times for Top Gear. Clarkson cocks up about everything but it is a great show. America tried to duplicated and failed famously.
