914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Got a speeding ticket this morning

Posted by: ematulac Jan 5 2005, 11:00 AM

First ever in my 914, doing 58 in a 40.

Burbank's finest pulled me over in the parking lot of my office this morning, for all my co-workers to see.

Three story office and I've heard about it from people on all 3 floors. They made me into some sort of celebrity this morning!

Guess I ought to put in that new speedo cable this weekend. IPB Image

When me and james were dating several years ago, his speedometer on his 914 was out. He told me "I think that I am able to tell what the speed limit is, if you could follow me in your car to make sure I am correct" So I follow him onto the freeway and off he went, I lost him at 65, couldn't keep up in my Geo. He must've been going like 80 in a 55.

75 - 80 is a nice speed, and good for accelerating, too.

Makes short work of the trip to Seattle and back.. IPB Image

Wait, so a broken speedo cable isnt a vaild excuse for speeding? IPB Image

I better get to work too...

The officer didn't think so. IPB Image

Only excuse I could think of at the time. I don't think it would have gone over well with him if he asked me why I was speeding and I said "Because I like it!" IPB Image

Haha! That'll be my next excuse!

But i've yet to be pulled over... *knocks on wood* IPB Image

(Now to thread hijack)

Anyone know how hard it is to 'fix' the speedo and odometer gears in your speedo? I have a working speedo replacement, but the Odometer on it is busted... sure, it's keeping my insurance rates down... but still IPB Image

I think Pelican has a tech article on it.
