Just looking for some advice on a muffler for a mostly street and some DE 914-6 3.0.
Nick
CIS likes back pressure....so a stock banana muff works best. Danske makes a nice one as well as Bursch.
I have a couple extras in the garage....
If Z still has that sport muffler that's a bargin. When I hear them idling on cars they sound fine. Others have suggested that they're a bit loud "at speed" but I'm the type that pulls the radio so I can enjoy the mufflermusic.
I like either the stock 911 muffler or the sport muffler but I'm suggesting that thinking that not too many people drop a 3.0 in a teener without going to carbs.
Just checked....the two I have sitting around are dual in, single out. There is a tech article that shows how they can be converted to the "triple" and/or "sport" muff style.
The triple is nice....you can cap the two centers and use the single on the street or lett it rip on the track.

I tried the dual out sport muffler.
I drove it down the street once and the looks on my neighbors faces were not very friendly.
I took it off and went back to my single exit bursch muffler.
Screw the neighbors!

That still looks quieter than a sport muffler. But it definetly looks a lot meaner though. Way cool. It looks like Arnold with twin rocket launchers. |
It sounds like the wider round part is just a resonance chamber.
BTW how do like the velios setup?
I'm debating on the velios or the wevo setup for my 3.2.

Let not hijack this thread, but, the Vellios tranny is not very tested yet. Set up was a pain, George is not available to answer questions. Adjustment of the shifting rods took a while, but I hope it will break in nicely. Time will tell. |
