Time to invest in wideband gauge to help get my carbs set up properly.

Any recommendations between AEM, Innovate, or others?

Also, I prefer the look of analog as it would blend better with the VDO gauges in the console, but anyone have specific pros/cons between analog and digital beyond digital being easier to read a glance?

You answered your own question on that...easier to read the better. I will say the analog only gauges suck just because they are hard to read.
I personally only hook up my meter temporary (I tune a lot of cars with it), so I don't care if it matches my other gauges.

I have a WMS and it's numbers are huge 1" to an 1-1/4" real easy to read even with peripheral vision.

I have an AEM in my car. I can't say I particularly care for the look of the big LCD numbers on my dash, but it is very easy to read.

I have an Innovate LC1 but it is very touchy clean power supply and grounds are the cure, but mine acts up now and then for no reason. I've considered replacing it..

I'm using an Innovate LC1 and despite some negative feedback online has beem rock solid for me. I am using it with the standard blue LCD gauge.

I like my AEM. I made a temporary bracket to hold it under my dash until things are sorted out.

Thanks guys. I was considering mounting it in glove box since I keep nothing in there and could be seen when needed, or as Krieger said, a temporary under-dash mount.

But should I go for a console mount, are the LED models dimmable or always at full brightness looking like the Vegas strip at night?

Posted by: monkeyboy Apr 1 2014, 09:28 AM

My AEM is not dimmable, but it is not too bright.

Mounted mine on the post, not fancy but easy to see. Very critical with the turbo, the gauge i look at the most...

Innovate. The O2 sensor failed on me after 2 years. I was able to get a replacement from Autozone.

Old as hell Innovate LM-1. I mostly use it to spot check and then data log during track days.

Here's a ~5 minute datalog from a LC-1(Blue) and EGTs (Ylw & Or):

I dont have many hours on the LC-1yet so I cant comment on how reliable they are.

I've owned the LM-1 and the AEM, I like the AEM better, simpler to install and it doesn't need to be calibrated. The sweeping a/f bonus outer ring is nice, because you can see it out of the corner of your eye if you not able to stare at the gauge. Pillar mounting is probably ideal, I have mine at the ash tray and you have to look off the road to much while under WOT... smile.gif

AEM is working for me. It also came with a couple of bezels and color changes.

On Pelican Parts, user "Bisimoto" sells the latest AEM WB kit for a good price (~$155).

I have also used an Innovate unit, I believe the LM1 unit.

I think there are much better kits on the market at this point as that unit is bulky and expensive.

Whatever you get, get digital with record so you can watch your runs later. If you do things yourself its hard to watch the display when your driving and tuning.

no gauge, just a temporary setup to tune it, then once I am done, it goes back on the shelf.

Its pretty easy to know when the idle jets are clogged, and we dont really have any change in elevation around here.

I will be putting in some data logging in my future EFI system, just to get it optimized....after that, its just too much information....

I was running an LC1 but it went belly up.

Just bought an LC2 kit but haven't installed it yet

I ended up with an AEM UEGO digital gauge last summer. The sensor failed in a matter of weeks, replaced under warranty with no questions. Been running fine since, but I did read a lot of complaints about sensor failures once I ventured down that path.

For me, I mounted it in the glove box so I can see it for tuning (digital readout is the way to go in that respect), then don't bother except for the occasional check.

Like Rich, elevation changes are minimal around here, therefore set it a go...

I've been running an AutoMeter Wideband AFR on one of my motorcycles for many years now. I am surprised no one else has mentioned Autometer.

works well and have not had any problems, when the time comes for me to put one in the teener I will probably just get another one of these.
it has a digital readout and the leds around the edge give you the reading at a quick glance.

they come in a variety of styles

I run Zietronics stuff in my cars and professionally.

I've got the Innovate MTX-L. It's ok. The sender can act screwy at times. It seems re-calibrating it whenever you have large ambient temp changes seems to keep it happy.

I ran ProSport:
